Trying to get over my initial shock and give this some non-emotional analysis. Given that they were going to trade McNabb to somebody, I guess we actually got as much value as we could. I don't see how pick 37 (and the later pick next year) is preferable to getting Nnamdi for him, but maybe that whole possibility was exaggerated after all. It's gonna be disgusting having to play against McNabb twice a year, but realistically he's not going to make Washington an immediate threat in the division. My guess is that the relationship between McNabb and Reid/the FO must have deteriorated badly after the season ended (maybe McNabb left an upper-decker in Reid's bathroom or something) to where they just had to get rid of him. I'm not happy with the deal, obviously, but on one hand it actually looks like a worse deal for Washington, which means it can't be that bad for us, right?

If we put together a package of some of these picks, trade up, and get Eric Berry, then I'll feel a lot better.

agree. i just really dislike trading within the division. this is kind of a bummer, its going to be painful seeing him twice a year in that ugly ass uniform.

Yeah, the one thing I was hoping for with McNabb was to be able to root for him at his next destination, b/c the guy has always been a professional. But ffs, the Redskins. Ugh.

I mean, he was getting traded, so it's just about max value, I just really thought they could get a 1st for him.

Vomit.

Perfectly fine with it. I thought we were looking for a top 42 pick? So we got the 37th and a 3rd? Sounds good to me.

I mean, I love Mcnabb but it was obvious that they want to go with Kolb, so I'm glad we could get as much value as we did. Plus, they're still the LOLSkins after all. I'm excited about the young nucleus of guys we've got, and the Kolb/Desean/Shady/Celek et al era beginning.

If there's one thing I really want to see next year, it's a totally revamped offense in terms of playcalling and design. The personnel is completely different now - no more shovel passes out of the pro form set, no more crappy roll outs on the goal line, etc... I want to see a new offense geared around Kolb's skill set.

is kolb etched in stone as the starter? no shot they let vick compete for the job, right?

No need for a new offense. west coast is kind of like what he ran in college, lots of quick drops and fire. should be a vg situation for him

So they're up to:

1st (1) - late
2nd (2) - one early, one late
3rd (2) - one early, one late
4th (2)
5th (1)
6th (1)
7th (2) - compensatory

If this draft is as deep as they say it is, and Philly scouts don't stink it up, they can do a lot of damage with this over the long term. They'll probably get 3 or 4 solid franchise guys, a couple good special teamers too.

Until every player leaves via free agency over the same two year span

Maybe I overstated with "totally revamped", but there is a decent % of the playcalling that I don't want to see next year.

Seattle last year, I believe. They traded down with them and picked it up.

This.

And who cares if its inter division, the redskins are putrid. Mcnabb is going to be running for his life with that o line in front of him...

It might not be great short term but when mcnabb is on the Vikings in 2011 the redskins will be back at square 1 but with less picks.

Its pretty clear that they just accepted the best offer they were presented with. I think they value is good and it really doesn't hurt to have all these picks this year...

Isn't this draft supposed to be super loaded? Run good one time plzplzplz? More Deseans and Bwests, less Freddie Mitchell's and Mamulas kthx.

I hope Kolb can throw the deep ball well this year. Mcnabb always struggled with accuracy, but one thing he did really well last year was throw the deep ball. Kolb needs to be able to do that way so as to not waste Desean's ability.

More and more I'm getting excited about this year. Man I hope they're right about Kolb.

Maybe I'm making too much of the inter-division trade. It's not like they did NYG or Dallas any favors here either, right? I definitely would have preferred to play vs Campbell twice a year.

I dunno, guess we'll have to wait and see how it plays out

man, this team is so different

any word on whether an extension with McNabb was part of it?

The McNabb haters in Washington must feel pretty torn lol.

I never really understood the big deal about trading within the division.
