Flashforward debuted this week on ABC and I think we got a 2 year glimpse into the future today with the offense with Kolb starting, Shady at RB and Maclin/Jackson starting out wide.

I kinda wanna see them try some 95 Nebraska Tommie Frazier option plays with Vick. I was surprised they didn't have him throw one deep in the 2nd half just to show the NFC east that its an option at least.

Wildcat with RB taking the snap and Maclin/Jackson in motion should be our default short yardage option from now on. I don't think we've been stuffed doing that yet.

The one play I didn't understand at all was a 3rd and short where Vick came in, and then they ran the most vanilla I-formation up the gut run possible. If you're going to do that play, why use Vick where the defense is less worried about the pass? That would have been a great time to playaction into a naked bootleg or something.

I agree about Kolb, however in the limited chunks of the game I saw I noticed he was throwing without set feet a lot Did you notice this? Or did I just see a few plays that were outliers.

Didn't notice it. Back in Vegas tuesday, I'll watch for it when I watch shortcuts.

Chiefs playcalling was a total joke - the coach should be fired. They had a drive in the second half where they're down 20 and they go 3 and out on 3 straight running plays. They lost by 20 (should have been 27), and ran 10 more running plays than passing plays. Pathetic. As horrible of a coach as he was, even Herm knew that you play to win the game.

It was pretty fun to watch the young guns tear it up.

Kolb showed improvement and looked good to me, but I didn't notice his feet except when they were obviously not set.

Shady is a natural and quick as hell.

Yea this is working out pretty well, granted we got blasted once but also won in a blowout twice...and one of them was with almost all backups. But 2-1 going into the bye and our first game back is against the other worst team in football in TB.


Shady really impressed me yesterday, I saw him run between the tackles pretty well which is very encouraging.

I dont think 1 guy can tackle Celek without him carrying them or at least 5 ore yards.

Kolb seemed to get a little better but I am not sold being that he faced one of the most horrid teams in years. He made some very confident throws though. He also threw a few behind receivers, but all in all a big success.

The defense made it look extremely easy to stop those Chiefs....oh yea thats bc it was.

I'm happy that the schedule is lining up the way it is, because Reid's teams typically perform better as the year goes on, esp after the bye. That said, with TB/Oak/Wash coming up, it puts me in the position of expecting 5-1, which is never a good thing.

Also, glad game in 2 weeks is @ Philly and not @ TB - Florida has always been bad news for the Eagles.

Love love love Celek + DJax right now. Having this much talent at the skill positions is confusing. I'm too used to the Pinkston/Mitchell/McMullen/LJ Smith pile of crap.

I don't get it. His knees were toast in 2006 - magic knee surgery FTW? Also, how can he possibly be in game shape right now. I'll be shocked if he's even halfway decent.

EDIT: Furthermore, our big weakness on D is passes to the TE, which is Trot's weakness. Our Run D is fine, unlike in 2006.

Apparently the 2nd time they worked him out, they brought in a WR for him to cover and were happy with his mobility. He's had awhile to recover from the knee surgery.

I think they are worried about Gaither cutting it vs power running games.

His knee surgery must have really fixed him up if they were impressed enough from 2 workouts to sign him. He was on WIP the day after the first workout and said he kept himself into shape the entire time just in case someone would call. I'd imagine this will play out like 04 where he will play special teams to get into football shape for a couple weeks and then go from there.

Until they actually announce the signing I don't believe they have to cut anyone. So with the bye they can take their time making sure McNabb is ready.

Yea I dont think any moves are going to be made just yet with regards to the roster.

Are we happy about this? I guess, I always loved Trot and the intensity he brought on gameday, the way he would get into the backfield and just destroy a ball carrier was incredible. But, as oters have said, he couldnt cover a TE which seems will always be an issue with this team no matter how many LB or years come and go...

If he cant be productive on Special Teams I think it is a success, asking for anything more then that is a pipe dream, correct?

Just having him around will be so awesome, especially w/o Dawkins.

It's cool that we signed him, but I don't really see a role for him. Gaither's perfectly fine at MLB. We didn't need four QB's though, so if he's got anything left it's probably a plus signing.
