Yeah so I might lose a $5 bet that the Sixers wouldn't make the playoffs. Didn't see that one coming.

Eric Snow just said Turner, Williams, Young and Speights have really "solilidated" the Sixers bench.

so-lil-i-dated

He's the NBA's version of Emmitt Smith

At least he's staying awoke for the games now that they're above .500.

Two out of the last 3 games the Sixers give up a 3 (while up 3) to tie the game and under 10 sec left.

101-98.....Westbrook dribbling top of key....Durrant runs off a screen....catch shoot....tie game with 6.2 left.

JUST FOUL WESTBROOK with 8-9 sec as he's waiting for KD to come off the screen

FFFFFFFFFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why do coaches REFUSE to foul?!? I'll never understand it.

That was a rough loss, still really enjoying watching this team this year. Love me some Doug Collins.

this, for realz.

also, holiday dominated the game for the first three quarters, then collins give the ball to lou williams for most of the 4th quarter. i do not get this at all. holiday outplayed westbrook up until the beginning of the 4th, offensively and defensively, and he lets lou williams ball-hog it up and bring the offense to a halt. yea I know williams gets to the line and and is a decent scorer, but the dude does not create for other players. i think collins needs to trust holiday more in crunch time.

totally forgot this thread existed. pretty stoked there is nba this year. what i want to see happen this year:

this team becomes holidays team, not iggy's team. that means collins goes to holiday when the game is on the line, and not lou williams (barf) and iggy.

turner keeps improving and looks more like the SG of the future that he was supposed to be

iggy's knees dont break down before the end of the season

we somehow trade mo speights for anyone with a pulse

somehow hawes and vucevic dont combine to be the leagues worst depth at center

thad young, lou, and meeks continue to solidify the sixers bench as one of the best in the league (obv. this means turner starts)

Yea it should be interesting, Im on board as always although I dont realistically see them going anywhere.

To your point about Collins going to Holiday and not Iggy/LouWill, I honest beleive thats going to be the case. I think they are commited to building around Holiday and have Iggy be a compliment to Jrue and Turner (assuming he progress and starts consistently). That could also just be what I am hoping for and it not come to fruition.

But youre right this bench is beyond solid, if we only had a bonafide star...

Too much Lamarcus Aldridge last night I guess, but if we could have shot a little better in the first would have been a bit different.

yea first half was ugly across the board... couple things in particular:

jrue played terribly. 6 TO's and 2 assists is really really bad from your starting PG. I am just gonna chalk this up to first game jitters...

brand looked tired and out of shape. thad young needs to stop shooting jumpers.

jodie meeks did nothing... he might be losing his starting job to evan turner anyway.

this team just cannot rebound at all. Hawes needs about 10 feet of space to be able get a defensive rebound.

so how are our chances this year?

Chances of what? Making the Playoffs? Almost assured. Being a decent team? Sure.
Doing anything in the playoffs? Hell no.

The eagles should have taught you that the dream is over. I'm just relaxing occasionally sniffing some smelling salts. At least we don't suck, I'm grateful for that.

I WANT to suck. Being what this team is - around .500 fighting for bottom seeds - is NBA hell and assures a decade + of garbage. You either bottom out in this league or have enough to make a legit run at the title and make moves to help that, being stuck in the middle is AWFUL (unless you are a super young team with a budding superstar(s) on its way up - think OK City). Unless Evan Turner turns into dwyane wade, we don't have a superstar. We probably should be moving Iggy but it isn't likely to happen.

i think we are moving more towards the 'better than .500 so we can attract a superstar to come here' stage.

What superstar? Give me a realistic possibility.
Philadelphia 76ers Quote

i didn't say i had anyone in mind... or if one would come here. just saying that with the talent we have we are far away from being really bad so we can get a #1 pick, so we should try to get someone good to come here.

a good center would be nice.

if they amnesty Brands $18mil next year they will have more than enough cap room to sign a max player. Howard and Deron Williams probably the only guys available worth a max that are unrestricted. Maybe Kevin Love who is restricted but i can't see Minny not matching everything.

I doubt we'll be able to attract a game-changer via free agency, because really, who is a realistic possibility? The real upside of this team, is that they have a lot of young pieces with potential that could eventually make a leap towards semi-super stardom. Also we have pieces that are trade-able so we have options there. Not likely we're going to find pieces in the draft to really help us besides providing auxiliary roles. The good news is the team really isn't that far away, the bad news is the jump from good to great is a hell of a lot harder than the jump from bad or average to good.
