Christian Hackenberg wins B1G freshman of the year award.

Second year in a row that a PSU player wins this award.

The way he's played this year is downright scary. Kid is for real.

I am not too worried about it. I am sure Bill wouldn't fire them if he didn't think he could upgrade in that spot. Vandy has sent a lot of players to the NFL, but who knows if he is slowing down in his old age, etc... The important thing here is that unlike Joe, Bill seems willing to get rid of people if he thinks it will help.

I'm not sure there is any upgrade to RV at coaching LB's. He isn't really old. Like 56 or 57? Probably like 8 years younger than Greg Mattison. Basically Hokeish in age. Two decades younger than a Dick Labeau. Guy has produced multiple NFL all-pros in recent history when he was able to coach guys higher than 2*'s and walk-ons. Had to be a personality conflict or something, because it certainly isn't about talent. Now PSU needs to get rid of LJ, and they'll have nobody on staff who can coach, and he can implement his low-efficiency spewy passing attack with no defense that seems to be O'Brien's vision.

Rumor circulating that Vanderlinden may be a candidate for the vacant EMU job and that may have played a part in his resignation.

If you think Obrien is doing a worse job than Paterno under the circumstances I don't know what to tell you. PSU football from 2000-2011 was awful. Check Paterno's record against top25 teams during that decade. It was abysmal. Bill hasn't had a losing season yet, playing only 60 scholarship players.

John Urschel awarded the Campbell Trophy. The Campbell Trophy is commonly referred to as the "academic Heisman."

good job.

when BoB goes to the vikings does he stay?

One bad thing if BOB leaves is that he doesn't really have anyone on the team who could just step in and keep things running. I am not sure if people would want that anyway, but it's not even an option. I am hoping he sticks around and hires an OC for next year.

Bring back Larry Johnson Sr as caretaker for a year. Then hire Kiffin.

Seems like LJ has been passed over a number of times for higher positions. Maybe he is just a good recruiter and Dline coach, but not really a head coach?

bdidd, sounds like you should fund a bovada account then.

max, me too...i remember being slightly pissy about jim thome leaving the indians because he'd go from like 100 million to 140 million...then my dad said, 'if ______ school offered you double your salary would you go?'

that ended my pissiness.

FWIW the PSU insider on one of the boards I read expects BOB to be back in 2014. I think that's just because he is going to be 100% PSU until an actual offer comes along.

honestly I want to bet "yes" to him going to the NFL but it doesn't say when the bet will be graded...kinda makes a big difference if it's when it's announced versus September or whenever they actually play a game..
