Assuming it's a whiteout at night, Ohio State aint winning that game with a rookie QB and no Bosa. Bosa is like a Rashan Gary that actually gets home. You can't replace that. And altho Haskins is the most talented QB in Ohio State history, there's no way he's gonna be ready for the most intimidating atmosphere in sports.

If Rashard Casey is your quarterback and Barry Sanders is your running back, you still gotta throw it on 4th and ****ing 5. How the **** do you take the ball out of the hands of the best player in college football and give it to an RB who will probably only ever look good vs Illinois. It was 4th and ****ing 5!!!

Imagine it's the early 90s and it's game 7 of the NBA finals. Last possession, Bulls down by 1. And Phil Jackson decides to run a play for Will Perdue to shoot a 3 instead of giving the ball to Michael Jordan. What Franklin did tonight is worse than that. 4th and ****ing 5.

Yes, this was probably the wrong play call. However I am going to focus on the positives. Franklin has an uncanny ability to get the guys up for the OSU game every year. 4 out of 5 of franklins OSU games have been super close against a team that has been far more talented. Maybe 2 years from now when OSU returns we'll have equal talent and crush them.

I've been second guessing so many little things from the game for the past 26 hours then I check this thread and realize ILP screwed it all from the start

How about just be prepared to run a play on 4th and save all three timeouts? This seems like the biggest coaching mistake of the whole game to me but no one's mentioning it.

All I can do is spot the locks. I can't control the results and I certainly can't control a coach doing something so unprecedentedly ******ed that even after more than 24 hours I still can't think of a real life example that is remotely close to what happened. Crazy Will Perdue hypotheticals is still all I got. In 30 years of watching football, that is the worst call I have ever seen. There's not even a close 2nd. Giving the ball to the RB on 4th and 5 is effectively giving up the game. We've all seen coaches do dumb ****, but I've never seen a coach actually forfeit a game until last night. Like I never even conceived of the possibility. Like seriously, the probability of aliens attacking earth is--or at least should be--higher than a coach handing the ball off to their RB on 4th and 5, and that's not even factoring in having the greatest QB in the game who literally saved your entire program. There is seriously not a word in my vocabulary that can properly describe witnessing that. "Unreal" or "Surreal" certainly doesn't cut it. If my girlfriend melted into wax right in front of me I still think I would be less shocked than what I saw last night.

Seemed like a classic fancy play syndrome gone wrong by PSU. Sucks that Franklin is so bad at in-game decisions but is so good at everything else.

Yeah I remember some Vandy fan on this board warning us about this. He said Franklin was a great recruiter/motivator but made bonehead in-game decisions. I guess we just have to hope Rahne moves on to another job soon. Surely the next man up won't be as bad.

Just another day at the office for Michigan. But for Penn State, that was their Super Bowl.

Some of the CFB writers have been posting stuff on twitter the last couple days speculating about whether James Franklin (specifically) would be the kind of splash hire that USC would make after they ****can Clay Helton.

Not that it's going to happen, but ... how would that make you guys feel?

I can't speak for Penn State fans but if this happens I know Michigan, Ohio State, and Michigan State fans will be devastated.

This is just the same smoke that every good coach does to their schools. The agents drum up rumors to get more money for their guy and his assistants and his program.

The fact is B1G programs don't have to worry about the Pac-12. The money isn't there. Look at the highest paid coaches. The highest paid Pac coach makes less than Lovie Smith. B1G coaches only have to worry about the SEC and NFL.

We're going to have real trouble getting to 85 scholarship players next season.

Maybe Franklin will put himself in the portal

How many of the DBs will actually leave? Any idea?

Stevens allegedly upset with not being named the starter for the upcoming season and places himself in the transfer portal. Looks like it is going to be Clifford or one of the two true freshmen.
