We got a commit from a 3 star tight end today from Florida named Jeff Heuerman. Normally I wouldn't care about a 3 star tight end because I don't think we have thrown to a tight end since Ryan Hamby dropped a sure TD against Texas 5 years ago.

But what makes this kid so special isn't that we landed him but the fact that Michigan didn't. He had tons of offers including UM but chose us despite his father being a former captain of UM's basketball team. lol. They can't even land a legacy.

also regarding the spring game, don't buy into anything you saw. If the spring game told us anything about certain players, Bam Childress would be our all time greatest player. It is fun to watch them compete but when you have starters vs. backups at nearly every position on both sides of the ball it is tough to gauge anything.

I'm pretty sure Guiton had a better line (debatable) but def had better receivers than Bauserman. I agree he looked better but who knows. I think it says more that he got picked before Bauserman by other players than the fact that he looked better than Bauserman in a scrimmage. Hopefully we get Braxton Miller and Guiton can give him one year to redshirt before he is given full reign.

As far as the running back situation goes we have 4 above average backs, possibly one excellent back (Saine). When we run the ball 30-40 times a game this will be very handy. I expect an almost west coast offense this year. Tons of running and short passes to maintain ball control and minimize turnovers. This is where Saine will shine.

nfn but do you round for a living? aren't there a shload of grinders in TX, Austin specifically? is that where z32 is? or maybe its bfizz i'm thinking of? i thought there was a big group of players somewhere in TX?

ps where tf are all of the Buckeye fans? (in before Wiper / Heater destroy this comment
Bah, gotta be optimistic after winning the Rose Bowl. There's a good chance we slip up in one game of course. Anything less than winning the Big 10 would be a disappointment.

I am a software engineer. Been here 7 years now. z32 is here. A bunch of others. Poker scene is fairly big, a lot of underground games. I haven't met any 2+2ers from Austin. It's pretty cool we a very big and active Alumni Association. Meet up at a bar for the games. Sometimes there will be a few hundred people there. Kegs and eggs for the Michigan game.

Not too sure where the other buckeye fans are, there aren't a huge amount posting on here IIRC.

Grey definitely had superior players at many positions and that made a difference. Guiton got sacked 4 times even with that line. He's not perfect, but you are right that him getting picked was huge. Bauserman just sucks balls, though.

Saine is awesome as a receiver. The biggest challenge will be giving enough of the RBs the ball. I have a feeling that at least one will transfer after this year.

Funny stuff about the TE recruit. No one in their right mind would play for DickRod.

Question for OSU fans: Is there any chatter or desire for Bo Pelini to someday take over for Tressel whenever the Tressel era ends?

This is the first I've heard of it. I didn't realize he played for Ohio State. Pelini would be a perfect fit, though.

Luke Fickell and Darrell Hazell are thought to be candidates (currently assistants).

I guess other people have thought of it before, though. Tressel has 4 more years left on his contract.

Of course, we have no idea. Tressel came out of left field. No one expected him. It's likely Pelini will be on the short list by then, assuming he doesn't suck. Glen Mason was thought to be a top candidate for the job, thank god that didn't happen.

The LSU one wasn't nearly as bad. That game was pretty competitive for a while.

I have heard people mention Pelini as our next head coach. It seems like a good fit. I think he is a great defensive coach. As long as he can recruit I would think he has to be the front runner to replace Tressel.

My biggest fear is that DickRod gets fired, someone at UM gets half a clue, and they go after Pelini before OSU can say to him you are our next guy. It makes so much sense that I don't think it could ever happen. It would be such a win-win for UM because they would get a hell of a coach that emphasizes D and be robbing us of our next coach.

I can't see Pelini going to Michigan. Too much of a lateral move and he has no ties. By the time Dickrod gets done with Michigan, it might even be a downward move.

Also, it's a shame that Tressel wasn't around - there's a chick wearing a #33 jersey who has the perfect frame for a 3-4 nose tackle.

Bonus: The fact that the video editor's name is Luc Nutter is just gold.

LOL white ppl.

There are rumors of Jermile Martin transferring. I definitely don't like seeing people transfer but I think this helps both parties. He won't play and we can definitely use another scholarship this year.

Also I can't wait for the USC and UM NCAA sanctions. I'm really hoping USC gets SERIOUS sanctions and UM just gets something humiliating like no bowl appearance and a guaranteed one year contract extension for DickRod.

Eh. It still isn't over. The NCAA has final say.

I never expected much but REALLY wanted a 2010 bowl ban. This would be awesome because when you do finish 5-7, still no bowl.

Spielman's always been of the opinion that while technically M broke some rules, they really didn't do anything wrong. I think he would call any sanctions too harsh because he thinks the whole situation is laughable. The sanctions aren't bad and I don't think anybody expects the NCAA to ask for much more, if anything at all.

Spielman is basically admitting that this goes on everywhere. The only reason UM got caught is probably because of the minor uprising last year and some players snitched.

I guess by "minor uprising" you mean "a couple of bitter players who had already left the program."

The video is awesome. I remember the old Union as if it was yesterday - and I am 50. It is tough to remember yesterday. It housed the 2nd largest McD's by volume in the late 70's early 80's. Had a fun bowling alley down stairs that sold really cheap beer (DW worked there) and housed offices that I spent many hours in. My son also spent his off hours there. Seeing that video and knowing what it is today is nothing short of spectacular. I have not been there in person - but the rest of my family has and the reports are great. With our first grandchild coming in September (better not be on a Saturday) we can't wait to get her in Scarlet and Gray.

BYW - what other major school's president would participate like E.G.G. does?
