Would this crop of Michigan players have sold their rings? We'll never know since they never got any.

Offensive gameplan in the first half was outstanding. Way better than I expected.

Defense getting insane pressure, which was my biggest concern. I'm feeling really good, but Tresselball could be very dangerous against this offense.

Yeah, we really need to keep our foot on the gas here. I have a feeling the winning team will have more than 28 points.

sick brag first....in first quarter after Malletts target actually caught the ball, I told my b-i-l, was be nice if next time they ran that play we put on a zone blitz and dropped a lineman back into coverage. However after the first half would have never thought we would have needed it they way we did.

couple of other random thoughts...

I know crazy things happen down in the pile, I also remember Rob Reynolds getting chastised for choking out Jim Sorgi. From Cam getting knee capped by a O-line man, Mallett hyper-extending his (Cam's) arm, to TP getting his foot broke, lotta bush league plays from Arkansas.

The secondary just flat out play great for having to bring people in off the bus. Having 4 man line getting pressure sure helps but damn did they play good. Them catching a bad case of the drops didn't hurt either.

I have long believed that Jim Tressell and Coach K are the same type guy. Cool and calm to the media but behind closed doors just a flat out ass kicker. However, I'm pretty sure the vest has a vag. Along those lines the only thing that could stopped us in the first half was half time.

It would have been tough but I sure wanted Hall to take a touch-back on the kickoff that just made the end zone. tOSU had not had any type field position the entire second half and to bring it out just added to it. Although taking a knee 1 ft inside the goal line could have been a disaster, so I guess it was the right thing to do. Also kudos to Arkansas punt team. They put us in horrible spots all half.

Happy to snatch a win from the jaws of defeat.

I laughed so hard when your RB fumbled on that 4th and half a yard or whatever because I just imagined how hard it was for Tressel not to punt right there even though going for it was absolutely correct. He's probably more committed to Tresselball than ever.

^^^ Without a doubt. Every game is against a top notch opponent, even if you have to adjust play calling to make it that way.

You think he's gonna change his mind after one bad play? You underestimate the man. Tresselball is such a misunderstood philosophy. It's not a super-conservative nature. It's a matter of trying to choke out a win and not making mistakes after getting a lead. The first half was not surprising to anyone who has payed attention to Tressel in big games. He's done this as far back as the Miami game in 2003. Just some crazy gameplan designed to exploit weaknesses and give him a month to prepare, he will find it.

However, the 2nd half was entirely Tresselball. He knows if he makes the 1st down, game is very close to over. Give it away, and you at least have time on the clock if Arky scores to come back. I doubt he thinks it was a mistake.

I posted this in another thread, but Tressel's gameplan reminded me of Dustin Hoffman in rainman, playing blackjack and counting cards and piling up cash at a crazy rate, then deciding he wants to play wheel of fortune and almost blows their money.

did you notice that if boom had bounced outside he would've taken it to the house untouched. he definitely didn't need to jump.

Doran grant just committed. Not a surprise, but nice to secure a verbal from the top in state player.

Yeah I don't think I want Les at UM. He obviously is a questionable in-game coach but I think he will be able to do best at what UM needs the most - recruiting down south. JT still has a stranglehold on Ohio so UM will obviously need to recruit nationally. They will have to start pulling kids from Florida, Texas, Louisiana, and Georgia to be elite. Les can do this. He is also obviously a hell of a coach because he has the 3rd or maybe now 2nd best program in the SEC.

Not only this, but he can get top notch assistants. Look at his staff he had early at LSU. OC - Jimbo Fisher. DC - Bo Pelini. Believe Dooley was on his staff too, and possibly one other current HC. My guess is he won't retain GERG and will bring in some really good people. He's been around long enough to have tons of relationships with great people.

Those two things easily make up for his in-game decisions. If Michigan is not back to a level competing for not only B1G titles, but also being in the national title discussion, I'd be surprised (assuming they go with Miles). He'll be a homerun for them and right now the only person who can pull them out.

Look the SEC wants him to stay for obvious reasons. Les can recruit top HS players because of two things 1) SEC 2) Location. Without that he won't keep the recruiting up. Down here it is thought that he has the top 1-2 or 3 most talented teams in the SEC and he does the least with that talent. That, added in to his game time coaching, is why he is considered the odd man out in the SEC coaching circles.

Now if he was ever to go back up north he would lose the recruiting edge of the SEC and the location. If he had normal talent would he be considered a top line coach - not even close.

You are right about his staff. He does get good ones. I wonder what the tradeoff is when you get those up and comers that stay 3-4 years then move up and the situation JT has with his coaches. I guess it would be a coin flip.

the SEC is so good they should just play on their own. these other kids are going to get hurt if they keep playing with the SEC. maybe the NFL will allow the entire SEC to join their league - they could probably beat the Browns and a few other teams pretty easily.
