You think he's gonna change his mind after one bad play? You underestimate the man. Tresselball is such a misunderstood philosophy. It's not a super-conservative nature. It's a matter of trying to choke out a win and not making mistakes after getting a lead. The first half was not surprising to anyone who has payed attention to Tressel in big games. He's done this as far back as the Miami game in 2003. Just some crazy gameplan designed to exploit weaknesses and give him a month to prepare, he will find it.
However, the 2nd half was entirely Tresselball. He knows if he makes the 1st down, game is very close to over. Give it away, and you at least have time on the clock if Arky scores to come back. I doubt he thinks it was a mistake.
I posted this in another thread, but Tressel's gameplan reminded me of Dustin Hoffman in rainman, playing blackjack and counting cards and piling up cash at a crazy rate, then deciding he wants to play wheel of fortune and almost blows their money.
