Guys I just read through this thread and...wow, the trolling here was WAY over the top. I understand in huge rivalries that people tend to toe the line(or in this thread, cross it with no regard for human life). I ask to keep the discussion high and the trolling to a minimum. This goes for both UM and OSUn posters(or any haters of said schools that wander into this thread).

i missed this post. is this accurate? this is very disappointing. does Tressel just consider these players inferior or could he simply not sign them? are any "big name" or "big time position" players? losing 11 scholarships out of state is bad. losing 11 scholarships to michigan is flat out unacceptable.

there might be a thread on this already but i hear rumors of another Big 10 team. not sure what world it makes sense in but i'm open to suggestions. i just tend to fear change. sometimes.

172 kids from Ohio signed LOIs to play D1 football this year. Believe it or not, some of them will be going to schools other than Ohio State. I heard Tressel has decided to cut the roster to under 800.

/sarcasm

I don't know what is so shocking about this. Michigan always gets players from Ohio. Our last two Heisman winners are from Ohio. Ohio puts out a lot more HS football talent than Michigan. It's just that 11 is more than usual.

Ohio State signed a small class this year and got most what they wanted instate. Of the eleven Michigan signed, three or maybe four were offered by Ohio State. They lost out on Jordan Hicks, Matt James, and Skyler Schofner as well. Those guys all went out of state.

And the Big Ten has been very publicly discussing expansion for months now. It is inevitable and probably won't be long.

They are mostly scrubs or positions we don't care about. This was a small recruiting class for Ohio State.

We didn't lose 1 player to Michigan, let alone 11. Kent State and Bowling Green may have.

Tressel gets 2 years added to his deal

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4999971

One portion of the new contract addendum provides Tressel with a university job as an associate athletic director if he steps down as football coach on good terms before his contract ends. He would be paid $150,000 a year.

hehe "if"

Tressel has always wanted to be and AD after coaching. Its been pretty much assumed until now, he just go the language put in writing.

bigger news is 5 recruits OSU already has verballed for next year, with 3.5 of them being OL. I'm feeling better about only getting 1 OL last year now. We'll probably get a few more commits spring game weekend as well.

The Big Ten, America's favorite punch-line conference, took a much-needed first step toward regaining respectability with a pair of BCS bowl wins and a 4-3 bowl record in 2009. Most impressively, all four wins came against top 15 opponents (Ohio State over Oregon, Iowa over Georgia Tech, Penn State over LSU and Wisconsin over Miami).

i didn't know Penn St @ Bama in 2010! that should be fun... until kickoff :_(

It remains to be seen how much work Pryor will be able to do during the spring after undergoing knee surgery in February that proved more complicated than expected. During a procedure to help heal a partially torn PCL he suffered midway through last season, the operating doctor found "there were a lot of things wrong with [the knee]," Pryor told the Cleveland Plain Dealer. However, according to a Columbus Dispatch reporter, Pryor "appeared to go full speed" in a team workout last week that involved plenty of running.

he'll be black jersey'd in practice the rest of his OSU career, I wouldn't worry too much about him being able to recover.

I'm down on Thad Matta. I just don't understand him sometimes. He is probably the best recruiter in the nation given that he isn't at a bball school and still pulls in amazing talent. So that is awesome. But not only he is bad at in game coaching, he doesn't even plan for games very well. How did someone on that staff not mention that playing Lauderdale around 18 feet from the basket on defense is a bad idea against a team that can rebound well from any position? I generally hate it when OSU plays a zone because they have traditionally rebounded like crap when they do, but I could agree to it against Tennessee mainly because of Diebler. It just should not be an extended 1-3-1 when they have athletes that can get to the basket and can rebound every where on the court.

Also how does he not call a timeout and when Madsen grabs that rebound on the baseline with only a couple seconds left. Madsen was playing like a scared girl all game. He had to know he wasn't comfortable with the ball in that situation and he sure enough threw it away.

all true, but jared sullinger next year means you're keeping Motta. great, great, great recruiter.

sullinger is going to be a killer.

thanks for the reminder. worst part is OSU had no business losing by 3. they should've lost by 20. they were flat from the outset. anytime i glanced at the score and they were ahead i couldn't believe it. what a letdown game. i'm down on Matta for not getting them up in the 2nd half. Clearly they didn't have their "A" game but they didn't really need it last night. if Diebler makes 3 shots instead of 1, they win. if if if...

Matta should've recognized their weaknesses in the 2nd half and done something different. Clearly Kyle "i am deathly terrified of touching the ball" Madsen isn't the answer.

After Turner hit that 3 late, a championship team would've closed. Instead OSU turned it over 2 or 3 times. clearly they are not a championship team.

i can take some solace in the thought that after seeing Kentucky, i think OSU would have lost to UK by double digits. it would've been cool to see OSU-MSU in the Elite 8 however.

This numbers gotta be off. By comparison Mike Garret makes over $800k, and Dan Guerrero at UCLA makes $465k. (UCLA has pretty major budget issues atm too). William Martin at Michigan was making $370k as of 2007.

He probably won't be the head athletic director. I'm sure there are several with the title. He probably just wants to stay close to the program and the university. Plus he already gives a ton back to OSU. I honestly think he is one of the few coaches who isn't about the $$$$

"A buff Clarett, 26, told Common Pleas Judge David W. Fais that he wants to finish his college education - possibly at Ohio State - and has a long-term plan of running a fitness center for geriatric clients.

And football would be OK, too, if the opportunity arises, Clarett said."

the question is, would playing for my flag football team be considered "opportunity" ? i for one say hell yes.

I mean he did try to take down the OSU machine. He pissed off lots of people. He arguably did more damage to OSU's football reputation than any other person ever. He was given the keys to the kingdom, screwed up, and blamed everyone but himself.

I will give JT credit though. He supposedly talks to him every couple weeks and has good things to say about him.

Also in other news Braxton Miller is on campus today. He is the center of what could possibly be the nation's #1 recruiting class. If we land him a lot of people believe it will be a 5 star domino effect in Ohio. He is a must get IMO
