Read yesterday that Michigan had 11 commitments from Ohio. Didn't really take anyone from OSU this year, but that's an incredibly high number.

This just in: Tressel's boring.

---------------------------------
As the Hendersons started to receive letters of intent Monday, the Ohio State running backs coach Dick Tressel, who is known as Doc, sent an e-mail message to Henderson’s father referring to a performance by the rappers Lil Wayne, Eminem and Drake during Sunday’s Grammy Awards. When Tressel, the older brother of Ohio State Coach Jim Tressel, visited the Hendersons in December, Seantrel made his father freestyle rap for him.

“That was a Grammy performance made me think of u!” Tressel wrote.

Seantrel and his father said they liked the stability of the Ohio State coaching staff but not the university’s large class sizes. During Tressel’s home visit last month, he told Seantrel in great detail what his first year would be like for the Buckeyes.

Henderson’s father described the talk as “pretty long-winded” and “kind of dry.” Afterward, Tressel mentioned to the Hendersons that he was always told he talked a lot.

“He’s so informative and so to the point and so much about business, that it was a little boring,” Sean Henderson said.

It was also weird, Ohio State had 10/18 of their recruits from out of state.

Breakdown:

Ohio: 8
PA: 2
VA: 2
NC: 1
IN: 1
MI: 1
GA: 1
FL: 1
IL: 1

Just a weird year.

did anyone hear about TPs knee?

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4956297

"Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor said a routine surgery to strengthen a partially torn posterior cruciate ligament three weeks ago turned into a more extensive procedure once the doctor found unexpected issues."

Shouldn't be a big deal unless he hurts himself again. Which is always a possibility knowing his style. Glad to have it all fixed up now. Pretty much the best time for it.

Honestly - I hope TP goes to the NFL after this year. A running QB that can't throw won't win any National Championships at OSU. At least he has a better stable of RB's for the fall. Look for tOSU Buckeyes to average 275 running and 125 passing per game this year.

so what does everyone think about the win over Oregon? does it count as step 1 of OSUs long haul back or was it a lose-lose game (i.e. we are supposed to win, so a win doesn't carry much weight, but a loss would be devastating)

If you are an underdog, it's definitely not a game you are supposed to win. It was a huge statement game.

It's definitely Step 1. Unfortunately (or fortunately), Miami isn't going to be that fantastic next year. It won't be a huge statement. But with Iowa crushing against the LOL3Option, and Wisconsin likely to be pretty decent next year, two road wins there could be huge. Win out and we are in fantastic shape. I don't think many people will think we are a joke if we can do that. Alabama is the clear favorite. With Oregon's recent problems, they drop down. Boise should be a contender, but need a lot of help.

My Prediction is Nebraska vs. Ohio State in the title game. Alabama will slip, Nebraska destroys the Big XII, and Boise will be left out again.

Bowls:

Title: Nebraska (13-0) vs. Ohio State (12-0)
Rose: Boise (12-0) vs. Oregon (10-2)
Sugar: Alabama (12-1) vs. Pittsburgh (10-2)
Orange: Virginia Tech (10-3) vs. Florida (11-2)
Fiesta: Wisconsin (10-2) vs. Oklahoma (11-2)

I should also add to my predictions:

Michigan: 5-7.

I wish I shared your optimism. I still think we will have 1-2 losses because of our lack of QB play. I hope TP finds the touch, but frankly I don't think he has the football intelect to handle the tough defenses. If you tell me we will go back to 3 yards and a cloud of dust we might have a chance - I can't believe I just said that...lol

BTW - living in SEC country is horrible. UF will be down. They lose a lot more than Tebow - no experience. Only 2 teams play defense it might be tough for that conference for a year or two.

Bah, Pryor really seemed to turn the corner. He was fantastic against Oregon, and was good enough the last 3 weeks last year. He'll never be an outstanding football genius, but he can be good enough to beat crap Big 10 teams. It's still tough to not have any bad games even when playing inferior opponents, but no reason it can't happen.

I know - but I just don't think you can win big games if you can't throw for 250.

That's a great plan. All you have to do is manage to win seven games by a TD or less again. Good luck with that.

I know TC. I WANT to drink the coolaid, I really do. We have some holes to fill on Defense, our offensive line should be great, RB's good, DB's - interchangable drill bits, need wideout help but not bad...

OK I'm getting there. But we really need to throw it consistantly...lol

haha Walt Disney himself couldn't have scripted that season to be any more dramatic.

i'd prefer a combination of the 2002 defense next to the 2006 offense (the first 10 games). is that too much to ask?!

The good news is there aren't many teams in the Big 10 who even stand a chance. Two even remotely challenging games in conference + Miami. This team should easily be better than last years team.

250 is nowhere near a requirement for winning big games. This isn't the NFL.

2010 - Alabama had 58.
2009 - Florida had 231.
2008 - LSU had 174.
2007 - Florida had 214.
2006 - Texas had 267
2005 - USC had 332 in a blowout.
2004 - LSU had 153.
2003 - Ohio State had 122.

Only one game really needed more than 250, and that was just barely. In college you need QBs to not be ******ed and strong lines. Having a great QB can help, but is nowhere close to essential. Pryor learned after Purdue Harbor to not to be a ******. The mistakes disappeared. In Oregon, he showed he could get it done when he needed to. He put up 266 there, but Oregon's D is pretty awful. If Pryor stays where he is at, he's plenty good to win a championship. Tons of teams have won with worse QBs. You put him on Alabama last season, and they destroy everyone even easier.

two thoughts:

1- you are correct - craig krenzel is a perfect example as he was probably like the 50th rated QB in terms of raw talent but he was smarter than **** and able to use his brain to win games (in the NFL, a QB needs both brains and a ishtload of talent). CK was also OSUs leading rusher in the Miami game with like a whopping 50 or 60 yards.

2- sarah palin and bill oreilly are now officially after you for your use of the word "******." good luck with that.

I hope this is a "just a little more dedication to get over the hump to a National Championship" kind of thing and not a "This team needs more work than our normal training schedule will allow" kind of thing:

I look at it as something more along the lines of "we can't rest on our laurels, and it takes great a ton of work to get a championship for anyone".

hahahahah.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

wiper you never cease to amaze me. first you couldn't get into the Kent St Trumbull County Branch due to lack of grades, now you go out of your way to report a "swear word." hahahahaha!

think about it bro - you took time out of your day to do an action that is completely inconsequential to the grand scheme of your life. i try to open up people like you to their "hater" ways. why do you live your life in such a negative way? do you hate your life that much? NE Ohio isn't that bad! i have lots of friends/family still there.

you have joined a thread just to post negative, "hater" comments. imo that is a lot worse than using a word that is protected by the Constitution of the United States (yes - free speech includes swear words. there is no such thing as a "bad word", just words that make insecure people uncomfortable.) not for nothing, but i didn't even swear! (obv, 2+2 filters words out) - so you went out of your way to hate on a post that "almost" contained a "bad word". i can't imagine that you have a wife/girlfriend/friends but if so, my advice is to spend more quality time with them and less time in threads that you don't have anything positive or constructive to add.
