Well I'm bored and disgusted and sick of politics, so I'd like to revisit a happier time - Nebraska's 62-3 loss last Saturday.

We'd planned the trip to Columbus dating back to last fall, with a drive from Lincoln to a buddy's place in Chicago as a stopover on Thursday and the rest of the venture completed on Friday. It just so happened that the Cubs won the World Series on Wednesday, and we found out Thursday that the championship parade and rally would be Friday morning, so HELL YES we went to that. Definitely a very random, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and it was fun as hell.

Do not drive through northern Indiana or spend any time there whatsoever. It's the worst goddamn place imaginable.

We stayed downtown in Columbus, arriving just as the Blue Jackets game was getting over (a 10-0 rout, somehow). Pretty exhausted we figured we'd grab a bite at the Thurman Cafe - a place we knew nothing about, but my friend's roommate was president of Block O or whatever so we just took all his recs at face value. Some insane bacon/cheese fries and a stupidly large burger shortened my lifespan a bit. Really cool little place.

Some of my friends were surprised about how large the city was, and I was like yeah dude, this place is larger than the whole state of Nebraska. We were downtown and I get the feeling that it's just a commercial business area because all of downtown was completely dead all weekend, even after the hockey game. Really everywhere we went except the campus area was completely dead. Everything was impressively clean though, infrastructure was in great shape, the streets and interstates actually make sense (!!!), it seems like a great place to live and work.

Saturday was a ****show, we went to Out-r-Inn at like 1pm or something and started drinking. It took awhile but eventually the place was packed and got the real party started. We all get pretty hammered, as one does. My wife and I left to go to the stadium (we were trashed, I can't remember how we even found our way there) and got some food.

About the stadium - I wasn't sure what to expect, but physically the place is incredible. I am 6'7 and we were in the upper deck - and I had tons of leg room. It took just a couple minutes to get in and out of the stadium even during the high-traffic times. For a bit of a comparison, Nebraska's Memorial Stadium seats 91k, but like 2/3 of the seats are in the end zones. Not so with the shoe; it has a design that makes sense. Sight lines all seemed really really good. The place is simply enormous. Concourses are large with food and **** everywhere, pretty standard, but certainly nothing negative to say. The only bad part is the bathroom situation. For ****'s sake, put some urinal troughs in or something.

The rest of the group joined us right before kickoff, including one friend who was sick-drunk. A few minutes in he puked all over the place up in the stands, which rightfully pissed off a few surrounding fans. I was several seats over and surrounded by some hilarious people that were cool **** and just laughed. Overall I was shocked about how pleasant most of the fans are because I've heard some damn horror stories. It's also pretty easy to be pleasant I suppose when you aren't confident in your team and then they come out and put on a historic beatdown.

The band was legit as hell of course, and Nebraska basically needs to hand our band director a few OSU halftime performance videos and then fire her.

I will say that compared to other college games I've been to, the overall atmosphere was very sterile. It was more of an NFL-type environment, which I don't think is a good thing. It was just missing something. I'll give it the benefit of the doubt though because an electric atmosphere is pretty tough to foster when it's a 40-point game with one team never even showing up. Tommy being ambulanced out also quieted the place dramatically.

Definitely a good trip, would recommend it to anyone. Would not recommend driving 13 hours to get there.

goddammit I hate me some ****ing osu fans...

for everyone else, my homie cb dutifully texted me (upon my request via pm) where the best parking spots for game 7 were...obviously he's a good cat, I'd 100% have his back in anything that came up if we were to kick it...

that said, he can eat an unhusked dick with that "opportunity to beat UM twice this year" ****. 8 nights ago, he'da gotten an enthusiastic hello and a hug, tonight he'd meet wiper.

Glad you had a great time Schu. The downtowns of all Ohio cities, apart from small pockets, seem to be ghost towns on the weekends ime. Most of the nightlife and whatnot seems to be in other neighborhoods. Also, our highway/traffic situation is definitely A+.

lolol. Hey man, all I said was "unique opportunity." I thought it was pretty courteous. Yall might be favored to win for once anyway, so don't be so salty .

We should definitely kick it if you have more time next time you're around for a Tribe game, a Browns sacrifice, or to pay homage to the King. I typically always have some killer bud and know pretty much everything worthwhile in this city.

shhhh - lets try to keep this to ourselves.....tOSU Buckeyes will be #2 Tuesday night. The scenario of having 2 BigTen teams in the playoff is for real if psu wins out. m*ch*g*n's chances are slimmer - but still there.

Some really intriguing scenarios out there for OSU, Mich and PSU.

It's fun the game is back to meaning something

If neither OSU or m*ch*g*n gets in the playoff nobody will want to play them in a Bowl. Both will be pissed at themselves and want to prove a point. That said, I still think the winner gets in - even if the BigTen championship game doesn't happen.

If OSU beats Michigan and doesn't go to b1g championship, it will be interesting to see how the committee treats it because I think they would be clearly one of the best 4 teams.

You never know how it will look in that room. But not being a Conf Champ will hurt. But if they run the table they will have one of the best resumes in college football this year. That might be enough for the committee to finally say that the best four teams are in - regardless.

But for right now it is a two game season against the other two teams in the conference that matter the most. Revenge against Sparty and then ... that game.

Wonderful. East Lansing weather for Saturday - looks like a one day cold/rain/wind/snow spell. Nothing bad ever happens when these two teams play under those conditions does it?

attaboy. I needed a cometojesus talk. If ever there was a season to get back at MSU this is it. Maybe by beating them it will piss them off enough to fire them up for their last game of the season.....

Not loving the outlook for this game. The oline is so inconsistent, Barrett struggles throwing and with about 1/2 the roster with freshman eligibility it all doesn't make me warm and fuzzy. I just hope the defense bows up and plays lights out.

That said we need to enjoy it while we can ... 1822
