It was great to see Berry get some playing time.

Speacial Teams:

I could be persauded to move my D ranking to a possible C considering the points you make. Yes, our special teams provided a turn over on the opening kick-off, which, BTW, was the loudest the Ohio Stadium the entire game.

However, the return that broke lose for 60 yards (?) that put Marshall on the OSU 29yd, had that been Miami, we proabably dont catch him and that is TWO special teams TDs against us which could easily mean Game Over.

Meh, we gave up a long return like that to Oregon and still won. Obviously it needs work. If you kickoff to a team 8 times, they might return one far. I was much more impressed with Buchanan than I was in the spring game. He looked fairly solid. Only 1 punt returned for 2 yards avging 40 yards.

The results for special teams were below where they should have been, but there was a lot of good things done and a few things that were just bad luck. Hopefully we see things improved for next week.

I think we can handle Miami by a lot more than 1 TD, so I am not terribly worried about giving up one easy score.

this team has 2 nice looking lines. what was up w/ the defensive line tho? one sack amirite? if we cannot pressure marshall how are we going to pressure miami?

still ?s on the dline imo.

i was pleasantly surprised by the offense coming out and throwing the ball all over the place to start the game. from my seats in c deck it was cool to see the deep plays develop from overhead. honestly they could've run dane or posey deep all game and most likely connected deep a few more times.

love jamal berry. love tyler moler---this kid was a rocket all over the field!

The Michigay thread is gold. They beat UCONN and that thread reads like they won the Rose Bowl.

I was impressed but I also had super low expectations. UCONN's D was pretty bad and out of position constantly but DROB ran like crazy. No way he makes it through the Big Ten schedule running like that though.

It's a shame our boys had to disappoint the haters today, I guess.

You also have to look at this game in context. You have a bunch of fans over in that thread who have spent the past six months staring at our schedule and trying to figure out where there are enough wins to alleviate our fear of losing our coach. These games are huge because there is so much on the line. We're not acting like we won the Rose Bowl. We're acting like we're that much more certain we can get to ****ing 7-5+.

You better hope that's the case. November 27 just got a lot more interesting after today.

Just remove the name Tate from the hyperbole and insert Denard and we have heard it all before. UConn was decent last year; they are not a good team. The BE is horrible. Cincy was much better than UConn last year and Fresno St. beat them by 2 td's. Your defense is still horrible and simply benefitted from a bunch of dropped passes and a badly called game by Edsall. Denard fits your system better, and you'll get your 6 wins and a Pizza bowl, but to think anyone with any real talent sweats him is laughable.

Marshall was doing a lot of quick drops. It's pretty hard to get pressure in those situations. It's also hard to really do any damage with that as well.

The biggest concern is Michigan's line, which actually looked decent. It could be UCONN's D-line is as awful as the rest of their team, but Michigan definitely has an improved offensive line. At least The Game won't have the result entirely decided ahead of time, so that should make things interesting.

this

The first few years I lived in Columbus, I watched the game at Buckeye parties with Buckeye friends. In 2008 and 2009, I stayed home and watched the game. I felt going in there was no way we could be competitive and I would probably be arrested for beating some obnoxious Buckeye to death by halftime. Hopefully, we remain relatively injury free, the season goes somewhat smoothly, and I can go back to watching the game with some of my friends down here. I can handle their BS as long as I feel we can be competitive.

It just felt like an exhibition game. I barely even remember those games. The one I was in Costa Rica and watched it with TJ Cloutier and I just remember it being embarrassing. I went to play a tournament before it even ended. Last year's game, it was like Tressel wasn't even trying and just was playing the most vanilla game possible. There was no suspense or drama. At least scare me a little.

i don't keep up too much on the UM thread; is there a serious threat of richrod being fired in-season if UM plays poorly for the first 6 or so games? i never liked richrod, but then so many people got on his case it made me feel bad for the guy.

do all buckeye fans shave their legs? or just you?

anyhow, big harding/howland game next weekend...it's in howland (wtf?) so i ain't going, but i already found about $60 worth of bets on harding. people think they're the underdogs, i think if harding loses to ****ing HOWLAND, they'll get new coaches so it'll be worth the lost money..

what say you?

He wouldn't be fired in season if this happened

really hard to see richrod fired in season. their schedule is pretty backloaded. 5-1 or 6-0 would be reasonable to see. wisconsin, ohio state, iowa, penn state, and michigan state are 5 of their last 7 games.

I'm still not too worried about UM. UCONN was lolbad. They were out of position on D constantly. Their linebackers were lost all game. That was probably due to UCONN's d-line playing like butt though.

If UM's offense does to ND what it did to UCONN, then I will be a bit worried. I think UCONN was pretty over-rated and UM a bit under-rated. UM's defense is still super suspect and their offensive line dominated UCONN who was missing their best d-lineman and another starter to injury.

I think another reason the Michigan fanbase (I'm included here) is blowing up is because we actually get to cheer for a kid like Robinson who is at the same time incredibly exciting to watch, fun to root for when you consider his past and insanely likable. It's like night and day with cheering for Forcier who, to be honest, never had much of a chance of being that likable catalyst the way he was raised/marketed.

I predicted 8-4 before the season and that included a loss against either UCONN or ND. It's not entirely dumb now to think of what the team can do if they get past ND. They will struggle against better defenses and lose games in the Big 10 obv. But it's not inconceivable to think they can win two of four against MSU, Iowa, Wis (all at home) and at PSU and be at 8-3 going into Columbus. 11-0 OSU against 8-3 Michigan with Robinson is one of the best games of the year on the CFB schedule and that's exciting too. We, and by association you, matter more again.

even discussing the possibility of him being fired in season just shows how completely clueless people around the country are about this hot seat nonsense

thank you media

FWIW, their best defensive player who was supposedly gone for the season, Greg Lloyd, started yesterday. Edsall thought he would be clever and wait until the week before the game to announce that Lloyd is fine.

haha.

my cousin was at the howland game. being an unreasonable trumbull county local, he insists howland's tailback is "going pro" after his 5 carry 100 yard game.

i can't imagine a howland team as a fave vs. harding. although i think we beat you once. in basketball. 15 years ago.
