I'm just shocked I cannot remember a game that was that exciting (I went back and read the press on it) that I attended. Getting old is a bitch, memory gets so terrible.

If anyone is looking for some high quality "vintage" Ohio State garb to prepare for the 2010 season then check out Homage. Columbus company with some comfortable tees and the like. I don't work/own this, but I have a few of their shirts and they are worth the little extra.

2 weeks until this show opens for business. i can warn you all now that i do not think 12-0 will be quite as easy a task as your average buckeye fan. i'm currently worried that we may throw up a dud on thurs night if we look past the game at hand to miami. i will not be content until osu is up 22 points in the 4th quarter.

i also don't think miami will be an easy win. we can't be 12-0 without being 2-0 first and i think 2-0 is a long way away.

Out of curiosity, what would you guess is the percentage of Buckeye fans who think 12-0 is a lock? 50%? 75%? More?

FWIW I think you're right. This is a very very good, experienced team but it's still entirely possible to lay an egg at least once (see, e.g., Purdue game). Way too much variance with scholarship limits, injuries and plain old fashioned luck for 12-0 to ever be a lock.

Doing a quick and dirty projection, I'd come up with 12 wins about 30% of the time, 11 wins 40%, 10 wins 20%, 9 or fewer 10%.

A lot of Buckeye fans are pinning all their hopes on this season. Since we got Pryor and the Brew Crew (o-line) in a top 2007 recruiting class, this was the year to win it all. With a weaker OOC schedule and a relatively weak Big10, all the stars have aligned.

I would guess less than 50% think it is a lock but nearly 95% would say they would be disappointed if we didn't make it to the MNC. I know I would be disappointed but I definitely don't think it is a lock.

I'm more worried about Iowa and Wisconsin than Miami. There are a lot of chances to drop a game or two.

Chances of running the table are a lot closer to 25% than 95%, and I am pretty optimistic. It's just a very hard task to do when you don't have a Boise State schedule.

75% to win 3 games, and a 85-90% to win a few others puts us very close to 25%. Our odds of winning a championship this year are probably higher than they have been since 2006. Next year is always possible if Pryor comes back, which is a decent chance. I'd rather have a good season this year, though, even if it means losing him.

I'm a bit worried I am going to miss that Miami game. My wife is due Sep. 26th. I can live with missing Eastern. OU always plays closer than they should, plus I can talk trash to my sister. @ Illinois is fine to miss too.

OSU is -28.5 vs Marshall according to Sportsbook.com and the o/u is 47.

if you had $100k to bet on this game, how would you bet?

ex: i think i'd take marshall and the points for 33.3k, the under for 33.3k and parlay both for 33.3k. i don't gamble anymore but this would be fun

I am probably older than all you guys - and one thing I have learned over the years is that if you want to make money betting an Ohio State game ... take the points. I am sure someone has the statistics out there but my feel is that they rarely cover unless they are underdogs. I have NO FACTS to base that on, just a 50 year feel...lol

28.5 is pretty low. Marshall is pretty awful. Obviously Tressel doesn't do much, but even so, scoring 30 should be easy against these guys.

U 47 seems solid too. I don't see Marshall scoring more than 7-10 points.

Thanks - I knew someone would have the REAL stats.

What does "bdubbers" relate to? BW3's maybe?

Is there anyone on Marshall that has an OSU connection? Doesn't Tressel practically go out of his way to make former employees not look too bad?

That's the kind of math that most people ignore, especially around NCAA tournament time. It's just too much of a reality check to bring out the calculator and realize that no matter how great your team is, they're still a HUGE underdog to win it all.

That said, I do think tOSU is the best team in the nation given what they accomplished last year and the copious amount of starters coming back. If I had to pick Ohio State's biggest game this year, it comes down to this: Iowa lost a lot on its offensive line. Miami lost a lot on its offensive line. Wisconsin lost a lot on their defensive line. Whichever team handles that loss the best will be tOSU's toughest opponent. Based on last year's records and returning starters, all 3 opponents look about the same. That is they all look pretty damn good. With Miami at home, I would be more worried about Iowa and Wisconsin also. IMO, if Ohio State wins 2/3 of those games, and cleans everyone else up, their fans should be very proud. I wonder what the odds are of tOSU winning the BigTen championship? I would guess around 90%, and that actually feels conservative.

Anyways, I can't wait til 9/11. Michigan vs ND and Ohio State vs Miami. Should be a fun day. Would be nice also if Penn State can actually stay with Alabama for 3 quarters, but I think that's just fantasy talk.

i'm thinking of an amount of money that id pay for the B10 to go 3-0 in the games mentioned above. realistically, its already in the low 4 figures

Did anyone else read the quote from the miami QB? This guy is played out as a real nice, good guy - the opposite of the thug U image the team has. Then he comes out talking about himself in 3rd person. The guys from miami never change.

"I'd say J12 is the guy who's completely confident about everything and has fun, loosens up when he gets on the field. On the field, in the huddle, that's when he comes out. Then off the field, I'm my regular self. No one sees J12 off the field. I never intertwine the two." -- Jacory Harris, University of Miami quarterback, who is something of an introvert off the field

I can't wait for this game!!
