I don't think many OSU fans are happy with Smith or Gee after that presser where they lied to everyone and how this investigation has gone on since then.

But we will see if Gene Smith is the motha****ing man on Aug 12. If we don't get a bowl ban and his self-imposed violations stick, then yeah, he is the motha****ing man and I'm guessing his actions throughout this investigation will all be forgotten.

If OSU gets no bowl ban, the NCAA is officially more corrupt than the Russian Mafia.

FWIW I don't remember anyone else saying that Gene Smith being tight with the NCAA is going to affect the sanctions decision. Was a poor attempt at a joke. He was only the head of the basketball selection committee, right?

But you're right in one respect - U of M fans ITT are expecting stiffer consequences than tOSU fans ITT.

Regardless how it turns out Smith and Gee are an embarrassment.

Your reply to the quoted texts really make no sense. You in troll mode?

lol @ $600 in car repairs being an emergency for a guy 'test driving' escalades for months at a time, and if it wasn't pryor why isn't anyone saying that?

Read the article. They have no clue who the person is that got the repairs. It even says that in the article. It just makes it a nicer story if they assume it is Pryor. The fund can definitely be used for car repairs. It even says that in the article. The fund is approved by the Big10 and the NCAA. It even says that in the article. A former compliance officer said it could be legit. It even says that in the article.

If you really can't see why this article is lol worthy from an investigative journalist standpoint I don't know what else I can say.

i had to get up and leave my in-laws' dinner table yesterday. 2 of their friends, husband/wife in their 60's, literally wouldn't stop with the above.

i tried really hard to be polite and/or gently disagree, but the level of 'OMG HE'S A SAINT HE WAS ONLY BEING LOYAL' even after i tried to change the subject multiple times caused me to drop my fork, make a disgusted face and walk out onto the porch.

kinda made a scene, but god almighty this bitch was pissing me off sooooo bad. refused to admit even the slightest guilt. nope, no siree, jimmy was just looking after his boys i mean, how many kids are on the team? it happens everywhere, right? they're just jealous of his success.

her: he's gonna end up in the nfl

me: lolno. he's not good enough. he's just a good recruiter, in the NFL everyone has talent.

her: BUT LOOK AT HIS RECORD HE'S OBVIOUSLY A GOOD COACH.

that conversation took place AFTER i had come back in.

****ing buckeye fans.

i was thisclose to asking the tried and true, 'okay, name 5 players on their team right now if you love them so much' but my wife got them going on caylee anthony rumors...

I'm not sure he's missing the talent at the NFL level to coach. It's not exactly the highest bar needed. He came up with some pretty good game plans in some tough games. Just was too big a pussy in some key moments. But LOL @ the idea he'd even consider it right now.

Once again it isn't surprising you missed the point. I'm not saying it isn't Pryor. I'm just saying there is no way of asserting it is Pryor. Even if it is Pryor it doesn't matter. The fund is legal.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him involved with the Browns in some capacity. I would assume he would be a better than average assistant GM. I don't think he will ever be a head coach again.

The fund is legal, but using it for stuff like that is stretching it to its wayyyyy outer limit.

Oh noes, something going on that's 100% legal, but near the limits! Stop the presses, some schools try to get every legal advantage they can.

I actually thought there were legs to this being something, but once again, it's more turds thrown at a wall hoping to get anything to stick.

I am shocked that somewhat shady things happen in college football.

The point of saying it's stretching it to the way outer limit is that it might not be legal according to the people in that article, and using the wording of what it's supposed to be for to justify that expense is lol.

I didn't miss the point. You're just being ******ed. Having a bank account is legal. Using the money in it to pay a hit man is not. Ohio State is using an otherwise okay fund in a way that breaks rules. A day long auto repair will in no way fall under the allowable uses of the fund. If you believe otherwise, you're either delusional or as dumb as most Ohio State fans. Probably both

Knowing what is allowed and isn't allowed by the NCAA isn't exactly common knowledge. Noze Candy said that using it was allowed, but at the way outside limit of what is allowed. Is that true? I have no idea. If it's allowed but somewhat sketchy, so be it. If it's not allowed, yeah, it's real bad.

Those funds are allowed for emergency travel expenses. Like a same day plane ticket/car rental to get home for a death in the family. An all day car repair doesn't qualify no matter how you spin it.

I'm not spinning it, I honestly don't know. I'm not going to crucify them over something I don't understand and likely only lawyers understand. If it's legal, then boo hoo, more power to them. If it's not, then they should get hammered for it. That is the exact opposite of spinning.

Really, it comes down to if the NCAA says it's allowed or not. If they say it wasn't allowed, then let the penalties come. If it is, then it's a non-issue.
