I'm sure all the fatties here kept that McD's rolling. Columbus being one of the largest restaurant test markets brings up an interesting chicken-or-the-egg type argument when you see all the whales waddling around central Ohio.

Had a fun bowling alley down stairs that sold really cheap beer (DW worked there) and housed offices that I spent many hours in. My son also spent his off hours there. Seeing that video and knowing what it is today is nothing short of spectacular. I have not been there in person - but the rest of my family has and the reports are great. With our first grandchild coming in September (better not be on a Saturday) we can't wait to get her in Scarlet and Gray.

i remember hearing of the bowling alley! that would've been wicked if it were there in my time (grad 2003)!!!!! the new building is spectacular. simply amazing.

e. gordon gee is on my sh** list. as a local campus landlord, i cannot stand behind his anti-capitalistic goal of forcing 1st and 2nd year OSU students to live in OSU housing. it is so unfair and such a cash grab, the university should be ashamed of themselves. luckily for me i had an opportunity to tell mr. gee this in person, and i did. his face went from smiley to total shock! he kept repeating, "you're going to love it" to which i replied "respectfully, sir, i don't see how i will love you eliminating 50% of my market by forcing them to live in campus housing. if it were really about the students, osu would simply build better housing and offer it at a lower price, forcing the private sector landlords (me) to do the same to compete"

i explained the irony in this economics lesson considering i learned about economics and capitalism and free markets at osu ;-)

@ heater - you couldn't be more right wasn't cbus the fattest city in america at one point? don't get me wrong, i love the great restaurants in the city (obv mickey d's isn't one of them ;-) but i don't like being labeled part of the fattest city!!

I am not sure if it is an EEG rule or not, but when I was a freshman in 1977 you either had to live in university housing or at home. We had about 62k on campus students that year (I think) so requiring 2 years would not have worked. You say it is 2 years now - wow.

Is this two year rule new? I remember it being first year when I was there ~10 years ago. I see a lot of benefit to students for the first year rule after living in Austin where no such requirement exists. The dorms sucked but they were a lot of fun.

the 2 year rule isn't in effect yet, it is just what EGG is proposing. the bigger landlords in the area (Buckeye RE, Pella Co, Inn Town Homes, Hometeam Properties, etc are all fighting the battle for me!)

i loved my time in the dorms, but that doesnt make it fair to make it a requirement. as a freshman i wanted to live in the dorms and then once i was a freshman i wanted to live outside the dorms for 3 years... this is pretty standard.

EGG wants to "nerf the world" as Joe Rogan put it - why not just require Juniors and Seniors and 5th years to live in dorms too? then once they get a job their company can have them live in Corporate dorms. this will really prepare them for the real world

Oh crap - I thought he was referring to the female whales we used to see at all the campus bars back in the day....

Neither - I love Clearwater Beach and hope to settle there. But for now we live near Disney in a town called Celebration.

BTW - its been 2379 days since m*ch*g*n has beaten the Buckeyes in football.

you guessed correctly. i used to read the online version but it kinda sucked.

thanks for answering, though... pretty neat considering its about the exact opposite of the Cooper years. did the Dispatch have a running tally then?! "days since OSU last beat Mich?!" ;-)

i hope the count gets to 5 digits.

Braxton Miller, #1 QB recruit, is set to announce tomorrow at noon. All signs point to OSU. He is considered dual threat but is already a very polished qb. He is the only QB we have recruited this year and we REALLY need him to commit ASAP. Hopefully he can get a few others on board and we can have a sick little run of high profile commits announcing they will be attending The Ohio State University.

I'm pretty sure he's a complete lock, but if he flips to someone else do you guys go after Cardale Jones?

Done - now watch the OL and WR's start falling into place. I thnk he is rted the #1 recruit overall by some experts... This could be really interesting. Although judging recruiting classes is a crap shoot. But it will be better than not having a ranked one. Prior is pointing toward staying for his senior year. The offense just might be pretty good the next few years.

He is top 5 (I think) on Scout and top 50 on rivals. Either way it is a HUGE pickup. He had over 50 offers.

The biggest part of his commitment is that he is going to try to get every other high profile recruit (i.e. Depriest) to come to OSU.

Getting the top qb every couple years is a great feeling. Remember what that used to feel like UM fans????

This makes him unique how? Name a recruit who doesn't try to recruit other kids to his school, lol.

It is a huge pickup, obviously, especially considering your QB situation. Buckeye fans can breathe a huge sigh of relief knowing you finally have another high-profile QB coming in. I've been wondering for the last 2-3 years why Tressel hasn't been going harder after more QBs, though. You guys should be adding at least one solid QB in every class, not one every three. I know you whiffed on Montana (which was pretty funny, btw) but it just seems like you haven't been in on many guys. Miller is great and all, but you're still stuck praying (more like PRAYING) that Pryor doesn't get injured this year or next.

I don't get what Tressel is doing in this regard at all. You guys have depth at every position but QB. We're loaded with young, talented QBs and expect to take another this year, as it should be. Hundley or Walker, come on down, imo.

Yea you are right - but I swear I read it somewhere. Even if he is a bust I am glad we got him and he didn't go to Bama or UF. Was m*ch*g*n even on his list?

Now if his "boy" Trey DePriest commits as well the class just might make some noise. Someone better check the tat parlors in Springfield to see if Trey has been there. That seems to be a telltale sign as to where a recruit is going these days.

I don't get this either. Maybe the hype that Prior got scared off some other players. Maybe they this years signee was all they really cared about. But injuries do happen in this sport, right? Maybe 3 yards and a cloud of dust is really our back-up QB...........
