I believe ND has pretty much lost all credibility on that issue anyway:

He could be giving the alumni one last chance to increase the value of contract to a competitive top tier number. Or alerting anyone else on a search that the clock is ticking. Or simply doing everything above board because it feels comfortable conscience wise.

Clausen and Tate leaving along with alot of ND's offensive line (?) is going to make it hard for ND to beat Mich next year even if God was the coach imo.

With the recent news that Warren is probably gone and Smith (potential starter/contributor at spinner) is also gone from a defense we all thought would be awful with these guys, Notre Dame isn't going to need much divine intervention to put a whole lot of points on the board against us.

Uh, did you forget what our team has been like the last two years?

I think what our team has been like the last two years illustrates why Michigan should be a favorite @ND. Going with an inexperienced QB (I know Crist has some experience but not much) and an inexperienced OL usually presages lots of losses. Michigan will have Forcier with a whole year under his belt and 5 returning offensive linemen which should make up a very solid line. ND will have the edge defensively but I don't think it will make up the deficit on offense.

How good did you guys feel about Weis at this stage of the game compared to Kelly now?

I remember a lot of back and forth between a few of you and pretty much everyone else on how good Weis was/bad Willingham was for the first 2 or 3 years. I don't know if people then said the same thing exactly, but the excitement for Kelly and a feeling that haters are not going to be happy with the hire seem pretty similar.

Good question! I'd like to know that too given I wasn't even on 2+2 then.

Either that or I hope he bombs the interview.
What do they ask in those interiews anyway?

"Discuss a time when a customer was difficult"

Tate (or his QB) not getting Heisman invite is another reason to dislike/uncare for this week's campaiging.

I fail to see how any of this matters.

It matters in the same way that knowing how many mistresses Tiger has matters. IOW, for the sake of curiosity it matters. Other than that, yeah it doesn't matter.

Well at least Tiger's mistresses actually exist, unlike a parallel between how people felt about Weis and how people feel about Kelly mattering.

Just curious. Admittedly, it matters as little as any other post in this thread.

Jim Harbaugh on ESPN a few minutes ago denied he was a candidate for ND.

Hope it's Kelly anyway.

I think you are being defensive for no reason.

I'm simply curious how ND fans feel now about Kelly, since it looks like he's the guy and people seem very positive, compared to Weis. I'm not implying, or at least not intending to, that this means Kelly will also suck as ND head coach or that he's a bad hire. People here being excited is a much better sign than people on most message boards.

I hope Kelly shows up at a press conference in ND apparel, grabs the mic and then in the middle of his speech rips his shirt off revealing a Cincy shirt, takes his folding chair and nails Swarbrick, then bodyslams Father Jenkins through a table. WHAT ARE YOU GONNA DO WHEN KELLYMANIA RUNS WILD ON YOU BROTHER? WE'RE GOIN TO THE SUGAR BOWLLLLLLLLLLLLL

Mangino runs in; steel chair-shots completely ineffective.
