I looked it up, apparently the effect is opposite to what I thought:

"The mechanism is relatively straightforward, at least superficially," explains Ingmundson. "Performance on many cognitive and motor tasks peaks in late afternoon. Teams travelling west to east to play night games are playing with their biological clocks set earlier, close to the most favorable time, and teams traveling from east to west are playing at relatively later point in their biological "day," conferring a relative handicap."

Deleted every post on this page up until NC's, may have been a casualty or two but it looked like a bunch of ND haters and ND homers trolling each other and it sucked.

level right? Or do we not count USC in "west coast" stats.

Good to know the censorship standards at 4 have undergone zero improvement since the Malmuth days.

DMW,

Tuq is right and both sides are culpable (maybe to different degrees in our viewpoints, but it still takes two sides). Instead of complaining about him trying to steer the thread to actual discussion, maybe you should take it as a hint to help get this thread back on track.

It's just hilarious to me that any Michigan fans posting ITT is immediately classified as trolling. I would post in an Ohio State or Michigan State thread if they existed, they're just more relevant and of interest to me.

First of all, both of you suck at simple post quoting. I mean, it's not that hard.

Secondly, the moderation on these forums is mostly hands-off and only a little more visible now largely because of the increase in posts and trolling brought on by football season.

Thirdly, from what I have seen the overwhelming majority of valuable contributors prefer the more genteel forum resulting from rules put in place a year and a half ago, yet only now are you having a problem evidently.

Fourthly, I read through every post on the start of this page and didn't see one that needed to breathe. There wasn't enough time to pick nits or mete out punishment for stupid, unnecessary trolling. Many of you were getting your blood pressure up trolling each other. Guess what, your posts sucked, deal with the deletions.

Finally, if you have an issue with this (particularly those with other rooting interests coming to this thread to troll) take it up with an admin or in ATF as any further posts on the matter in this thread risk deletion or further action.

Thanks.

there are worse things in life than a BCS curbstomping
Notre Dame Football - A New Hope Quote

especially when a BCS curbstomping would be a huge step up
it would maintain program momentum for ND allowing them to keep stock piling recruiting class after class
as Bill Self showed, 80% of college coaching is recruiting
forget the Xs and Os, it's the Jimmies and Joes

If only that recruiting momentum would include a couple of defensive tackles. Sucks that they all decommit and go to Florida to win national championships.

or both the #1 and #2 receivers go to USC to run block. Prater is from Ill, bad miss if he doesn't change.

There is a better chance of Prater in Orange and Blue than at ND

ND is way back on that guy from the inside info I have.
He is still USC's to lose.

Pete Carroll has a decided climactic advantage.*

I don't think any WRs are going to fret about having to run block too much at SC. There have been more than enough guys that got on SportsCenter and ended up in the NFL.

Not much of a chance Prater ends up at ND.

Read a quote from Weis where he said he was going to spike it on 3rd down at the end of the game. I'm not sure if I'm more amazed at the Purdue timeout or that Weis was actually going to spike it.

I think the consensus is that Weis is lying, because there is no way he's that stupid. And this is coming from someone who hates Weis (obv).

I'm sort of torn, on the one hand his teams have always been decent at the two minute drill so I wouldn't expect them to **** up a spike like that, and a fake spike play would be just the type of too cute **** Weis loves. On the other hand, with all the fail we've seen, it could happen. So, who knows.

smartfootball had a good post on this (scenario #2)

really, it was analyzing Purdue's timeout. It argued weakly that the Boilers timeout was the right thing because one cannot assume their opponent would be so dumb as to spike the ball there.

I believe when he says he was going to spike it. It seemed he didn't have a play ready/hadn't called two, and it has taken them a long time to get plays in all year.

It really isn't like him to cop to something dumb because everyone needs to know what a genius he is. But now I can see him adopting a bit of ambiguity on his true plans given this new dumb-like-a-fox angle.

The thought that Weis could have called two plays beforehand is so remote that I didn't expect anyone on the internet to guess it.

I really believe that all USC needs to do to secure heavily sought after recruits is get them to an on campus visit, hold a party, and get one of the Song Girls to "look after" the HS player in question. Pretty much a done deal at that point.

Ah sure, why not another picture to round this post off:

Calling a running play on second down without a timeout in your pocket and not calling a quick third down play with the intention of spiking the ball if you don't get into the end zone is one of the most amazingly bad coaching decisions I have ever seen in my life.
