Just ridiculous, I swear he could have thrown bubble screens to Rudolph the entire game game out of the five wide and scored every possession.

I know you're being hyperbolic, but I feel it's areas like this that fans should stfu about more. You can't go and call the same stuff over and over at crucial moments against any defense. Certain plays work precisely because you failed trying something else the play or drive before. Or because you call something else on a crucial third down or something. Keeping the opposition off balance and guessing still matters a lot.

So, when an offense runs something that doesn't work at a crucial point and everyone starts waving their hands in the air and screaming for the play type that worked five times previous in the game it tilts the **** out of me. We'd all be horrendous play callers.

I expect us to lose the bolded games, and split the last two on the schedule (prolly lean towards us beating Stanford). That'll leave us 7 - 5 with a winnable bowl game. So a good shout of 8 - 5 at the end of the year.

Wat.

Purdue just lost to a MAC team. They aren't good. Much better chance of losing to Washington, UCONN or Navy even if they're home games.

9-3.

Michigan State lost to a MAC team the week before don't forget. Purdue played a great game against a decent Oregon side on the road. And they have home field advantage. And our QB is banged up with his primary target injured. And our defense still sucks.

Agree on UCONN as per my post above. I can see us losing to them and beating Stanford. Watched replay of the Navy game yesterday. I think we will comfortably out shoot them. Home field advantage will be huge against Washington imo.

From this week's "Weis Cracks" on NDnation. LOL:

Quote:
Last week, ND’s defense let the UM offense have its way with it. This week, ND’s defense let MSU’s offense get all the way to the moment before asking Sparty if he brought protection.

The Weis Cracks never disappoint and are the highlight of the Sun-Friday. My favorite was from the 2006 MSU game.

John L. Smith said he was disappointed about last year’s flag planting because his players didn’t find the fifty yard line, a problem that re-emerged for his team during the second half of Saturday’s game.

To be fair, Smith’s offense crossed the 50 early in the 4th quarter. They were going the wrong direction on the way to 3rd and 42, but at least they crossed it.

Thank goodness Washington didn’t cross the Delaware that way or we’d all talk like Angel.

It seems appropriate that three of the Spartans’ offensive players were guarding the 50 yard line against flag planting because MSU’s defenders couldn’t stop the Irish from doing anything after the third quarter.

I think it was a bizarre attempt at performance art: stand around and do nothing for 15 minutes. A perfect metaphor for the Spartan offense in the final stanza.

Meanwhile, John L. Smith maintains that his boys were innocent victims during the sideline skirmish because we know his guys wouldn’t be spoiling for some thuggery.

no, this is something we should hold coaches feet to the flames about more.
If the other team cannot stop your bread-and-butter, don't overthink it and do something different.

Weis's bread and butter is deep fried dough in olive oil soaked in eggs and whole milk for two hours, rolled in powedered sugar and stuffed with sausage made through a cake decoration tube cut into 11 slabs and spun in 11 concentric circles on his rotating kitchen chalk board.

I don't need to list my ND hater credentials. And I'm a huge nit when it comes to any sort of taunting, celebrating, or post play shenanigans. But I thought the swan dive into the band was awesome. And I'm a hater. So there.

Yeah, this is the route people take for sideline/endzone collisions all the time. Players always leap into the air when they are headed into a crowd of their teammates and coaches. It's much safer that way.

Yes, a band two yards around the endzone is somewhat in the path of someone running towards the endzone.

btw Tate was nicer than me, I wouldn't jump and skip a great chance to go Spartan bowling.

Tate had more than enough time to stop and just knock into the first row of band members. Instead, he decided to jump. I thought the band was more generous than they should have been.
