What was fair about it? Or accurate about it?
The call was flat wrong, period, end of, full stop. It should have never been called. Additionally, as you point out, they missed the holding and missed the FSU player take off his helmet right in front of them. The taking off of the helmet is a laughably easy call in plain sight of a few of the refs.
It was a classic, tailor-made screw job. The same reffing crew ejected Tuitt last year for "targetting", another screw job. Of Brian Kelly's 15 losses, 3 of them are with this reffing crew. Of his 43 wins, 0 are with this crew. A compelling argument can be made that this crew should never set foot on a field with ND again.
Assuming it is merely coincidence rather than any sort of protect-the-ACC mentality, they have proven themselves completely incompetent.
I do hope the team moves on from this and takes out their anger on Navy, but personally I am going to be furious about this game for the next 50 years.
