Game should not have been over on that play, instead the Irish should have had one more chance at 4th down. What could have happened?
No way in hell should Prosise be flagged for OPI at any point in that play. If a flag is going to be thrown on that play (and it shouldn't have been), it's defensive holding on the FSU defender who almost brings Prosise to the ground. We got rammed up by the ass by home cooking refereeing. No two ways around it.

I understand your disgust but it was a fair call. I disagree with it, and I think I heard the refs were all ACC refs (side note: conspiracy) but I can't lose sleep over the call. What Prosise should have done was show his hands the moment the CB started holding him (cuz we both saw that the FSU player was holding there).
I just hope the voters remember this game and remember Oregon lost to Arizona of all teams and that Mich St was blown out by that same Oregon team to eliminate them from contention ahead of the Irish (assuming all teams end the season with 1 loss)

What was fair about it? Or accurate about it?

The call was flat wrong, period, end of, full stop. It should have never been called. Additionally, as you point out, they missed the holding and missed the FSU player take off his helmet right in front of them. The taking off of the helmet is a laughably easy call in plain sight of a few of the refs.

It was a classic, tailor-made screw job. The same reffing crew ejected Tuitt last year for "targetting", another screw job. Of Brian Kelly's 15 losses, 3 of them are with this reffing crew. Of his 43 wins, 0 are with this crew. A compelling argument can be made that this crew should never set foot on a field with ND again.

Assuming it is merely coincidence rather than any sort of protect-the-ACC mentality, they have proven themselves completely incompetent.

I do hope the team moves on from this and takes out their anger on Navy, but personally I am going to be furious about this game for the next 50 years.

The 2nd most irking thing is that Fisher requested the call at halftime and Pat Ryan was dialed up to call it without really scrutinizing what happened on the field, which was FSU putting two men on press coverage and leaving Robinson alone.

The most annoying thing is a myth that got echoed this week that "Notre Dame gets all the calls" which can only exist in the mind of someone making an excuse for one.

Obviously not that call. Nor the illegal Bush Push. Nor the phantom clipping call on Rocket.

Mich State played one tough game and they lost. Rest of their sched is a breeze. They aint getting in above ND. They're only above us in coaches because undoubtedly the Big 10 coaches have them very high. That poll should be public.

The AP poll reflects reality...theyre two spots below there with little hope of leapfrogging an 11-1 ND.

I don't understand this argument at all. ND loses to #2 and defending national champs in a nail biter and MSU gets trounced by #6 Oregon. They had no chance in the 2nd half to even make it a game let alone have a shot at winning. How MSU is even ranked ahead of Oregon is a blemish on the polls. If both ND and MSU end up with 1 loss, its an injustice to college football if msu is ranked ahead of the Irish simply due to "the timing of their loss" (i.e. the team that lost first gains the benefit of the voters because they had more wins since losing and nothing more).
This does not guarantee that a 1 loss ND team makes the playoff...I don't know that those voting will give them the bid.

I don't agree with domer much but I do think nd deserves it more, schedule is a bit tougher overall, SPARTY has had quite a cake schedule and the b10 is a tire fire

Well, thankfully the traditional polls are now meaningless. I fully expect the panel that will be selecting the four playoff teams to come up with a much more logical ranking than the AP/Coaches polls.

Have you looked at who is on the panel?

I know you're probably looking forward to your, "we got screwed because of anti-ND panel" speech almost as much as you are looking forward to the playoffs, but come on. A small group of people who are actually watching a ton of football games each week and have discussion among the group before submitting their ballots is clearly better than what we've had to date.

The panel only has a modicum less bias than the coaches at first blush. Full of former and current ADs. Bias aplenty.

I'm hopeful the end result is a large improvement over the coaches poll, but its by no means a guarantee.

Already preparing the speech, I see. Who would you put on the panel? I assume that former ADs, coaches, and players are out. Maybe we need to eliminate anyone who attended an FBS school as well.
