Booth official != field referee

If there's a mistake, okay, point it out. But blatant bias? Give me a break.

If the refs actually had different views available to them, that changes a lot. As is, well, I'll obviously take it.

Regardless, I'm happy that the correct call did take place.
Just so I understand. The officials aren't manipulating the picture for themselves in anyway? Eg, if we don't see them stop action, zoom, back-up, etc., on the TV broadcast, look at a different angle, then it didn't happen? I honestly don't know.

Edit to add: This can't be true, because occasionally the TV broadcast shows the officials looking at the tape. Presumably the officials aren't intently looking at the back of their mugs.

I'm king of speaking out of turn for him... but I think all he is saying is that the TV has access to the exact same footage.

Wow turns out he actually was out of bounds...I guess Franchse60 can quit whining like a bitch about the refs beating ND...Naw lil homie, Michigan beat you, not the refs.

Franchise60 is terribad but so is Riverman on the Michigan side of things. I think they almost cancel eachother out...F60 is probably a lil worse because he was crying like suchhhhh a little b1tchhh and was proved wrong. So awesome.

Anyways I wanna give some props to Jimmy Clausen. Always thought the dude was a huge douchebag but after the game I guess he went and stood behind Forcier while he was doing interviews for ESPN and what not and went up to him when he was done and gave him a hug and said he wishes the game would of ended differently but that Tate had a great final drive...and to say hi to the family for him. Pretty classy, definitely deserves some props for that.

Oh there was blatant bias the entire game as I haven't seen since Pitt 2004. You can call me next time there is bias in favor of ND and I won't deny it if it is obvious.

The official's name is Bill Lemonnier. There's been at least some allegations of pro-UM bias. This clip from M-Ill 2000 shows a couple of blown calls by his crew in favor of blue.

OMG>... the guy from the 2000 fumblegate game
yeah... that guy is in Michigan's back pocket
that was the single worst game for officiating in football
Ron Turner, the Illinois HC that year, had a quote about anyone who is against instant replay should have had to go into my locker room after the Michigan game and explain to the players why we lost. (yeah... replay didn't come into being until 2003 in the Big Ten)

It was a hose job. That happens a lot when playing the 'name' programs. Thank god I was on parole and couldn't be at that game. I would've beat the hell out of that official.

Of course, the Illini team was absolutely deflated from that game and laid an egg the next week. Turner lost the team the rest of that year and they somehow didn't go to a bowl. That year was in between an 8-4 bowl win in 1999 and the outright Big Ten crown in 2001.

Pretty sure the classy move would have been for Clausen to talk about how his family dislikes the Forcier's.

Mind actually explaining some of this bias? The touchdown was proven to be the correct call. I don't know where else you would complain about the officiating, maybe a couple pass interference calls? Honestly, the only ones that I heard ND fans complain about Warren had perfect position on. Also, I want to see these blatant punches that Weis was referring to.

I'm sure if you did some research his crew has blown some calls against Michigan over the years. Because, well, officials make mistakes.

Glad you're not overanalyzing a true freshman's comments after an emotional victory.

Will you admit that Michigan beat Notre Dame fair and square? Or are you still hanging onto the "officials R rigged against us" angle?

They were comments before the game to the announcing crew.

Michigan won a good close game, doesn't really matter what I think outside of that anymore.

By the way, on the taunting call ND fans think was crap:

Quote:
NCAA rulebook on unsportsmanlike conduct:

a. Specifically prohibited acts and conduct include:

1. No player, substitute, coach or other person subject to the rules shall use abusive, threatening or obscene language or gestures, or engage in such acts that provoke ill will or are demeaning to an opponent, to game officials or to the image of the game, including but not limited to:

(b) Taunting, baiting or ridiculing an opponent verbally.

(c) Inciting an opponent or spectators in any other way, such as simulating the firing of a weapon or placing a hand by the ear to request recognition.
Weis:

Quote:
"Armando was really distraught at the end of the game, because he felt that he got called for a 15-yard penalty for going 'shhhh' when he got to the end zone," Weis said. "Now I guess, technically, that's taunting, but he felt really bad about that and I told him we're all part of this loss and don't put it all on your shoulders."

I thought it was, "We have a healthy dislike for one another." Or something like that-- I took the implication that they enjoyed competing against each other, and weren't close friends.

If that was an anomaly, or the proof was irrefutible, or the call had been made on the field and not overturned, I could agree with you, but it wasn't. In that game Holding is when ND pushes a player into the ground from the front (negating another TD). PI doesn't apply to having an arm over the WRs. Unsportsmanlike conduct is not when Cissoko pushes a player trying to get up into the grass after the play is over, it's when AA saying nothing and touching no one but making a ssh sign. The refs vote with their feet immediately after the game was over, not aware that Joe Paterno wasn't at this game? And as soon as I learn about the identity of the official it turns out he's famous for ruling in faovr of M on close calls in a completely unrelated game.

It takes nothing away from how well M played because the two are not mutually exclusive. But if you don't at least acknowledge that M was getting helped then you're stuck in the fog, and it's a Blue fog.

First of all every UM fan in the game day thread agreed it was a bad call. Secondly, we don't know if the referee had this WNDU feed or whatever. Thirdly, I crush Riverman and even he knows it.
