Yep. Beating up on a basketball school from a basketball conference without without their starting QB definitely makes you for real.

Beating up a basketball school >>>> skating by one (Indiana, cough).

It's obvious ND is a really good team. This always happens(not just wrt ND).

Team A is overrated
Team B has a good shot at upsetting them
Team A kicks team B ass.
Man, team B blew it.
Team A beat a crappy team B team even though some people predicted an upset by team B.

I used to think the early 1990's Dallas Cowboys just were getting lucky winning. LOL at my stupid 18 year old self.

What has to happen for ND to take the #1? IN this format there is no difference between 2 and 3. But #1 gets the easier draw. I suppose Bama has to drop one. .

What would be truly terrible is with #chaos ND ends at #1 with Bama at #4. That would be some cosmic injustice level ****.

The rankings sausage thread probably has a scenario for that. Maybe Bama loses TWO in a row along side mass carnage of the remaining contenders. Otherwise I think Bama losing one just makes them our first round opponent in the #2 vs 3 bowl (which I bet is the Cotton, it seems that everyone would choose the Orange if #1).

ND just shipped a 4 star LB commitment from Georgia—without the promise of a scholarship (numbers are pretty tight and there is only one more DE they want to take to finish the class). A Top 250 player guaranteed nothing more than a PWO slot is impressive, though I suspect he’ll be on schollie in pretty short order.

Beaten the 24th, 20th, 19th and 4th best teams in college football on the way to 11 - 0. Win, in, fully deserved.

For sure. From a resume POV I don’t know how you don’t put us in front of Clemson now though (esp w/performance against common opponent Syracuse). Not that 2 and 3 are functionally any different in this system.

Will be at the game on Saturday night, hoping there is a lot of Irish fans there and/or a lot of empty seats.

In a decade Brian Kelly has delivered two 12 - 0 seasons and two shots at the National title. I find it difficult to accept such as underachievement.

Notre Dame's problem is the same problem UM and Stanford have, their admission standards are way too high to ever be able to compete with the Bama's and Clempson's of the world. You got a bunch of white guys who are going to be attending law school or working in Wall St or DC next year trying to play against actual NFL teams, it's not going to end well.

changing a coach is not going to fix that problem.

I doubt there will be any interest but my guess is that Kelly tries as hard as he can to get an NFL gig.

Okay, when is Lucy yanking the ball away this year?

aka when does Kelly come out flat on the big stage?

Which double digit underdogs will have us sweating into the 4th qtr.

How many jump balls does Claypool have to pull down to get Book into the Heisman Hype?

I've got them at 9-3 this year.

Start 2-0 obviously. Get woodshedded by a Georgia team with superior talent. Lose a letdown game the next week to Virginia. Then right the ship a bit with a win, get some renewed hope by sending Clay Helton to the unemployment line to get to 4-2.

Then they go to Ann Arbor and stay competitive through the first half but just get ground down by a team with better talent and coaching to get to 4-3. Rattle off 4 comfortable wins against 4 mediocre to bad teams, then win a big game in Palo Alto to get Lou Holtz talking about "WHY ISHN'T NINE ANDSH THSHREE NOTSHRE DAMSHE IN THE PLAYOFFSHHH CONVERSHATION???"

As I never underestimate BK's ability to come out flat on the big stage, we won't lose to both UGA and UVA because the latter would no longer be a big stage.

LB play looks particularly bad. Sure miss Coney and Tranquil.

Don't we have a "9-3 Will Suffice" banner somewhere?
