Unless Bruney has a truly break out year, we're probably gonna clock high 3 (like 3.8) ERA at best from teh bullpen, not counting blowouts where we send in mop up pitchers.

Within the division, Red Sox and Rays probably both have better bullpens, especially in the 7th and 8th innings.

The Rays especially... good god, their bullpen is stacked. They got multiple closer quality relievers pitching in the 7/8th innings... it's pretty sick.
The Rays bullpen isn't anywhere close to as good as you think, and the Yanks isn't as bad as you think.

The bullpen was just fine last year without Joba and it will be again this year. Either Melancon or Robertson (or both) will be awesome, and Edwar still rules.

If you want to worry about something, worry about how many games Posada can catch or if Cano sucks now or if Matsui will be able to run the bases or if one of the center fielders can hit at least at replacement level.

pleeeeaaase to be trading nady at the tip top of his value and not swisher at the rock bottom of his value if this happens

Cano's likely to start slow... he always does. But the guy has a sweet swing.

I'd rather just keep Nady. Boras will def be lobbying for a trade. Dealing him could possibly mean pushing Austin Jackson through the ranks quicker. I'd like to see him stay in the minors for another full year.

Gardner with another HR today?

Anyone wants to put up any money on who hits the first dinger at Yankee stadium?

I'd love to see Hughes pwn Team USA right now.

Hughes says he's throwing a different curveball this year. Sounds good. I remember people saying last year that his curve didn't fool a major league hitters because it was too easy to distinguish from his fastball.

I'm still really optimistic about him. I expect big things when he gets a chance this year. Hopefully that won't come until he gets a few months of work at Triple-A.

sadly, kennedy is picking up this spring where he left off last year.

come on, ian. you are making it hard to root for you. i don't see any improvement in his pitches.

swisher should definitely be starting in right but in his zealousness to prove that manny wouldn't help the yankees he forgets to mention the near 30 runs manny would add by replacing matsui at dh.

if you are referring to the Jose Reyes comments, please read this

http://www.nomaas.org/

Quote:
03.03.2009 Arod offers a compliment to Jose Reyes...OH MY GOD!1!11!

After he saw his Dominican Republic team beat the Florida Marlins on Tuesday, Arod offered the following comment on his teammate, Jose Reyes:

“I wish he was leading off on our team or playing on our team. That’s fun to watch.” (Source)

A simple compliment about a fellow World Baseball Classic teammate, no? Not according to the Journal News' Peter Abraham who delivered this sarcastic diatribe:

Alex Rodriguez told reporters in Jupiter today that he wished Jose Reyes played for the Yankees.

He then sent word through a team PR man that his comments shouldn’t be taken as a shot at Derek Jeter. No, of course not. Reyes plays shortstop. That’s the same position Jeter plays. How could anybody take that as a shot? (Source)

So somehow Abraham takes a friendly comment by Arod and warps it into "AROD WOULD RATHER HAVE REYES THAN JETER." We'll ignore the fact that Jeter doesn't hit leadoff. However, please direct us to the part of Arod's quote where he says he wants the Yankees to trade for Reyes and put him at SS.

This was nothing more than a compliment about a Dominican teammate, and a huge reach by someone who used his platform irresponsibly.

Abraham is milking everything he can from Arod.

I don't know why he even included Manny since there's like no chance they were ever getting him. Bonds would help them over Matsui too, but it's irrelevant. The important thing is that Swisher>Nady.

I don't mind Peter Abraham when he just reports the news, but when he gets opinionated he often misses the mark huge. Thankfully, he doesn't get opinionated very often.

He's also kinda rude when responding to e-mails, but at least he responds to e-mails, right?

yes but only 6 regular season weeks!

here is where being an Arod fantasy owner and a Red Sox fan is problematic
