it was pretty awesome when the yankees were like 5 games behind the jays, and tercet was betting on the yankees being at least 10 games behind the jays by the all-start break. i think thremp immediately jumped on the bet, and then someone said that it's more likely the jays are going to be 10 games behind the yankees by the ASB, than the other way around.

ahh good times. Yankees > BJs

Well, ESPN has just come out with their park factors for 2009, and there is Coors East pulling in at... #20. That's right- while Yankee Stadium is a great place to hit home runs, overall it actually suppressed run scoring last year. Gammons' home park ranked 8th. The sample is too small to make any kind of definitive judgement (like, say, the one Gammons made after about a month and a half of baseball), but the next time some senile old hack tells you Jeter's career was resurrected by the new stadium -- just walk away.

Male & Female admirers of Yankees most eligible bachelor Derek Jeter could be cheering a World Series victory in November — then mourning his marriage a few days later.

The New York Post reports Sunday that the star shortstop of the World Series champions and girlfriend Minka Kelly have a date to be married — Nov. 5 on Long Island. Acting on a tip, a reporter posing as a bride-to-be spotted an entry reading "JETER wedding" on the calendar for the Oheka Castle in Huntington, N.Y. Sales manager Rick Bellando insisted that a celebrity wouldn't be listed under his real name when the reporter pointed it out.

I'll do it if it's your last resort, but I suck, so I suggest you reserve the right to fire me as your co-owner

So yea, after returning from overseas and reading what I missed, two overriding things jump out at me:

This being the first. Seriously, the younger guys not knowing who P Dirty was, I can at least understand. Karak and Jtg not knowing who he is, that's just downright shameful $h!t. Props to Tuq for pointing it out and Triumph for at least acknowledging him.

For the younger guys, even though the following description doesn't really do him justice, imagine Karak on steroids and Odell having a baby.

He is a legend.

-------------------------------------

The second thing that jumped out at me was Karak567's transformation into Karak.
Spoiler:
No, not because he became a mod, but because since about that time, he has managed to fail harder than I thought was possible. Listed below are a couple examples

It's funny that Beltran decides to wait until now to have off-season surgury and not even tell the Mets.

Some of the commenters on River Ave. Blues are lobbying for Fernando Tatis as a fourth outfielder. Seems like a pretty good fit to me. He's a better hitter than a lot of the other options and his defense is probably averageish in the corners. Plus, he can play any of the infield positions in an emergency.
