rofl @ Agame all of a sudden wanting to put PA limitations on the bet

i bet a lot of things make you lol

looking in the mirror likely on the list

EDIT: I also didnt ask for limitations but for minimums, in case we were doing some stat/stats that would be affected by less playing time

Why would you ask this considering you think Matsui will be more durable? Also VORP is affected by less playing time.

in other words, lets say we were just doing something simple like OBP, i wouldnt want nick johnson to be able to play half a season and have a 440 obp when he just ran good and matsui plays the whole yr and his is lower

I just wanted to make sure I wouldn't get screwed if Johnson starts the year red hot and breaks his spine..............vorp protects me on that

So I guess Gardner is going to be the left fielder? I'd be absolutely fine with him playing every day if he can put up a .350 OBP and steal 50 bases, but I have my doubts.

If you believe Cashman about the payroll, and I do, they only have a couple million more to spend. Maybe they'll bring back Nady? Not the best solution, but it would be nice to have a fourth outfielder who can hit LHP. Assuming he can still throw well enough to play the field.

It's only 1,600 innings, but I was just very surprised to see DeRosa's UZR/150 in the OF is 15.8. I thought he had a reputation of being able to play every position badly.

Still, three years seems kind of gross.

Why not play Gardner in center and Granderson in left?

Melky isn't a borderline major leaguer. He's a league-average bat and slightly above average fielder in the corner spots. That actually has good value to a team.

They also gave up a promising prospect and someone who could have been their #2 lefty reliever in the majors this year if things worked out. It's a good trade for the Yankees, but it's not even that horrible for the Braves. I don't think it's a heist at all.

To honor his moving to the Braves... my favorite Melky moment ever:

Gardner in left sounds horrible... Gardner in CF against LHP and pinch hit for later is cool... He shouldn't be better than a 4th OF for the Yankees... He's just not a major leauge level hitter

Here is who I think COULD start in LF next year (not counting Gardner for this list) in order of most likely to least likely:

Mark DeRosa
Johnny Damon
Xavier Nady
Jermaine Dye
Marlon Byrd

He hasn't been a Major League hitter, but when you combine what he does at the plate, with his stolen bases and excellent fielding, his overall contribution to the team makes him a fine player.

He was a more valuable player than Melky last year in way less time.

EDIT: Actually he was a league average hitter last year so I'm not even sure your claim of "he's not a major league hitter" is even correct. I have no problem with him playing full-time in this lineup.

I wouldn't mind any of the top three. I'm kinda just hoping they bring back Damon at this point and hope that 13/year nonsense was just posturing.

I doubt he can keep that .obp..... He looks lost at the plate

Sucks to see Melky go. I was in his corner from the start and hoped he would turn into a solid player, I looked at his stats with rose colored glasses always but deep down I kind of knew in all likelihood that he was never going to be good enough to be a starting OF for us. Its ridiculous what they are getting back for him.

video of the catch. when the pop up player comes up select "top play" from the available feeds/qualities

Most projections have him doing just fine. Are you basing your stance on anything other than personal observation?
