Stopped watching. Team is awful. Mediocre pitching, stopped hitting homeruns entirely, and can't play defense. Judge injury killing the team.

Old joke, but we are who we thought we were. A good offensive team (when everyone is healthy) with a deeply flawed rotation, which makes for a team not built to win in the postseason...and this series is a good preview of that.

Pitching market was kind of ****, and we did what we could at the deadline, but it remains to be seen what our pitching is capable of come October. There's a decidedly non-zero chance guys get hot at the right time and we have a magical run, and a much higher chance we don't even have someone we can depend on for the WC game and we're one and done. It's a good problem to have I guess; there are 20 or so other teams whose fans can't even speculate about playoffs right now.

RE: Gman overall your premise is correct but lets be fair. If Holder wasn't complete hot garbage in the first game (plus C.C. to a smaller extent) and Bird makes the scoop last night we're taking a completely different tone on this series. Umps were awful too but its too easy to harp on that ****.

Bottom line Boston got hot and got all the breaks and are the better team...for the moment. If the Yanks weren't so meh vs the rest of the division then there wouldnt so much panic now. All they need to do is start fresh tonight and win one game vs Chicago. Then another. Then another until they clinch. That's it. Also last I checked teams have RANG from the WC spot...no need to jump off the roof...yet.

PRH, I think we mostly agree. I'm not giving up on the season or anything (I think the people who claim we're not even gonna make the playoffs now are morons), just laying out where the team stands right now.

Honestly I still feel like right now we're around where we expected we'd be when the "rebuild" started, but we ran a little hot last year and everybody got spoiled and acted like anything short of a championship would be a huge disappointment. I was a little worried that ownership might get caught up in that too, and we'd make some dumb Torres/Andujar/Sheffield for DeGrom trade or something that would maximize our chances of winning a single WS but greatly reduce the odds of winning multiple ones, which could be the trajectory for this team if we play our cards right.

These Yankees have a shot.

And as a fan that's all I care about right now.

Will midnight strike on this Cinderella bunch?

Maybe. But I'm gonna be holding that glass slipper until 11:59PM.

GO YANKEES!

u guys need to alter bullpen priority/ depth chart after Chapman's 2 colossal meltdowns recently. His ten-cent head needs a shrink. Betances or Britton to close

Exactly that...when people want to wax poetic about the Yankees they always go to the 90's team...76, 77, 78...and of course the Mantle years but the 2009 team almost no one gaf about it...because the Yankees are cemented in dynasty not one offs.

That said when you trade for Stanton the stakes are raised, and expectations are up...that's just a fact. The trolls can talk all the **** they want. Fangraphs still has this team at 99.8% to make the playoffs as of right now and I don't disagree, have they looked at the schedule the Yanks have coming this month. ****ing hell let's see if this team can rip through the rest of the month and we'll see what's up come October.

Rivera is one the best control pitchers of all-time, hence he's the GOAT.

This current slump really makes you miss Judge. Sluggers who get on base 40% of the time don't grow on trees. Combine that with above average defense and baserunning and you have a top-5 player in the game. I'd only have Trout, Betts, Ramirez and Lindor over Judge, maybe Soto but a bit early for that.

Good outing from Lynn vs a bad team. This is the time to pick up some easy W's hopefully.
