Honestly I still feel like right now we're around where we expected we'd be when the "rebuild" started, but we ran a little hot last year and everybody got spoiled and acted like anything short of a championship would be a huge disappointment. I was a little worried that ownership might get caught up in that too, and we'd make some dumb Torres/Andujar/Sheffield for DeGrom trade or something that would maximize our chances of winning a single WS but greatly reduce the odds of winning multiple ones, which could be the trajectory for this team if we play our cards right.
Exactly that...when people want to wax poetic about the Yankees they always go to the 90's team...76, 77, 78...and of course the Mantle years but the 2009 team almost no one gaf about it...because the Yankees are cemented in dynasty not one offs.
That said when you trade for Stanton the stakes are raised, and expectations are up...that's just a fact. The trolls can talk all the **** they want. Fangraphs still has this team at 99.8% to make the playoffs as of right now and I don't disagree, have they looked at the schedule the Yanks have coming this month. ****ing hell let's see if this team can rip through the rest of the month and we'll see what's up come October.
