ARod's life is apparently completely normal compared to Tabata.
On first thought of seeing this headline, I thought Tabata's mother had called 911 for stealing his son. WTF at having a wife more than twice your age?! Now I understand why the Yankees shipped him out b/c they didn't like his overall makeup.

cabrera holds little value to the yankees if he's going to be a 5th outfielder, and his value diminishes the longer he has that role. to even get a minor upgrade on cody ransom would be a coup.

Jeter to bat lead off this year apparently. This should have happened, what, 3 years ago? Either way, at least we don't have to worry about him laying down stupid bunts anymore every time Damon gets on base in the 1st inning.

He's going to bat leadoff for the rest of the preseason and then Girardi is going to evaluate but it looks like a done deal. It also probably has no impact whatsoever on the season.

I'm almost positive Jeter/Damon or Damon/Jeter will have no significant impact over the course of a season. It's probably not worth one win.

Dave Pinto's lineup tool says it's a three-run improvement based Marcel's projections.

Jeter's also going to hit in to a lot less double plays with Gardner in front of him instead of Damon. I don't know what that's worth.

Even though there isn't a ton of value, I love the fact that Girardi is at least open minded about these things. Hopefully that's a good sign for other decisions.

I am like 99% sure Girardi is doing this because Gardner is a lefty and Jeter is a righty.

You know, the almighty R/L/R/L/R

may also be because jeter hit into a lot of double plays last year

I'd like to know how decent Damon's bunting skills are. Probably not very good. We'll probably see more hit-and-runs since Damon doesn't strike too often.

damon shouldn't be bunting as a #2 hitter anyway

i haven't really been keeping up on the yankees in spring training but i am excited to see gardner - like cheez-its and wild turkey, i cannot be convinced that light-hitting stolen-base types are a bad thing despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

My expectations for Gardner aren't very high, but that speed and defense sure are sexy if he can get on base at something resembling league average.

As of recent, all of the rookie studs have been a huge let down. Robbie Cano was universally touted as a future batting title champ which is why I don't get my hopes up high anymore. The verdict is still out on Joba.

Cano can still be a "batting champ", and still not be all too great, though I think he can still be very good, maybe you forget he plays 2b?

lol @ verdict is still out on Joba. He's a stud.

The closest Cano got to winning the batting title was in 2006. He finished third in the AL with a .342 AVG. - behind Joe Mauer (.347) and Jeter (.343).

are you freaking kidding me? you know he is going to be on like 140 IP cap this year, right? winning 15+ is a ridiculous standard. you basically just said that he'll only be a stud if he wins the CY and MVP at the same time, while sitting out a third of a season.
