i honestly considered it but decided not to at the moment

lol Steve Phillips does an entire segment on Baseball Tonight about how this is such a brilliant move keeping Hughes in the bullpen and now he can fill the "8th inning role now" and how smart it was of the Yankees to not send him to AAA but instead keep him in the bullpen.

Clearly BBT people have no idea the Yankees have already publicly said he's going back to AAA in 2 weeks unless Wang implodes in which case Hughes is back in the rotation.

Solid research ESPN.

hughes will pitch in the bullpen late in the season and postseason correct?

also looking farther down the road... playoffs... which starter doesn't get a playoff start if everyones healthy?

Joba too the bullpen for the playoffs? the can of worms this would open up would be annoying as ***... but it might make the most sense depending on how the other 4 guys do the rest of the way

Giradi must not like Wang very much. If I were trying to help a struggling pitcher find his confidence. I'd start him versus somebody other than the best lineup in baseball.... The AL leading Texas Rangers!

so in other words, MLB's policy is very clear - be the first to hit someone. if you retaliate, you get suspended, so make sure just to throw at guys in 2nd and 3rd and 2 out type situations.

yankees should throw at bay, ortiz, youkilis, etc. then if the red sox retaliate, they're the ones who get suspended.

i endorse all these posts. although to be fair, padilla likely won't be pitching anywhere for at least 50 games. maybe the whole season.
