More evidence as to why he should be pitching in the 8th inning role.

Look how Joba is mowing them down in the 8th inning. He was born to pitch in the bullpen as the bridge to Mariano Rivera.

qfmft. the combination of 97 mph fastball, 87 mph slider, and 77 mph curveball while pitching 8 innings per game might as well be illegal.

I wonder what Mo's ERA would be if he went out there without a defense behind him? 2.50?

Saw like half of the game, Joba looked pretty sick, alot better then most of the other starts I've seen him in the past. He seemed pretty gassed control wise in the 8th and some of his fastball's were all over the place(even though he was pumping 95-98). I was surprised that this was his first time he's gone into the 8th in his 25 or whatever career starts.

Once/if he lowers his whip to under 1.30 ill agree with most of you that hes an above average starter. But for the most in his past he has had a pretty high whip with alot of short outings.

But his whip is still too high to consider him anything but average, even though he strikes out a bunch, he still allows too many hitters to get on base.

I think he would need three fielders and a catcher

ok, let's pretend for a minute that he is an average starter. being an average starter at age 23 is pretty good, right? would you agree that 23 year old pitchers can generally be expected to get better?

Nobody argue with Phildo because no matter what he will find an excuse to make himself sound right. Joba pitched the best game of his MLB career and everyone is ready to crown him as god. Once again, he should be in the bullpen to help how atrocious it is and be the heir to Rivera. The Yankees will not be a factor if their bullpen is this bad all year.
