Which of the following players do you think has a higher career batting average than Stanton? This ignores the majority of Stanton's value, but let's just go with batting average for now.

A. Brett Gardner
B. Didi Gregorius
C. Cameron Maybin
D. Edwin Encarnacion
E. Gary Sanchez
F. All of the above
G. None of the above

You are kind of making our point. Batting averages are down, strikeouts are up, HR’s are up. In the playoffs you face superior pitching, which probably leads to more strikeouts on a team where guys don’t put the ball in play.

No, I think you missed my point entirely as I listed a group of hitters, some sluggers, some non-sluggers (presumably the people that can "hit" instead of only hit homeruns or strike out that LFC was referring to), all of whom have a lower career batting average than Stanton.

You also said that Judge 99 is "basically Dave Kingman", so your opinion on anything baseball-related is worthless.

SABR I know it's not a realistic hypothetical but assuming someone like Urshela was a the same position as Stanton would you rather play him or Stanton in the postseason?

Someone who makes no money but came out of nowhere and has had an incredible season despite people declaring every week the week he will fall off vs a strikeout machine who cant make contact against good pitching but makes $30mil

Pretty impressive the Yankees have 2 players at like $55mil of outfield salary not even playing a factor in this season and are still goating. Shows how stupid and unnecessary these ridiculous long term contracts are except for a handful of exceptions

They don't play the same position so what's the point in comparing them?

You should be asking if you'd rather play Stanton or Brett Gardner, and the answer to that should be obvious.

Urshela has had a nice heater going but he's basically a defensive replacement/cover when everyone's healthy.

I'd rather have Gardner. A guy who can work a count, foul pitches off, have tough at bats, can make contact and put the ball in play and is a threat on the bases if he gets on

I also completely disagree with your assessment of Urshela so theres that too.

This bottom of the 6th is why I love this team. And it's the anti-Stanton inning. Keep it moving and break their backs

Still think he uses the bullpen strangely, but the results speak for themselves

You realize Gardner is basically a .240 hitter at this point in his career who tries to pull homeruns into the short porch and rarely runs anymore? I don't blame him for doing so, but the narratives you come up with to try to discredit Stanton and while hyping up everyone that's not Stanton is LOL.

A .220 slugger is >>> Stanton?

Stanton's floor is higher than that.

So a better average than Stanton in the postseason? I'll take it!

Also not an easy strikeout against competent pitching.

This team really misses Stanton. It's not just about raw numbers (which again his arent anything special during his time as a Yankee) its about his fit in the lineup. I'll bet any amount you want the team does worse when he comes back. You can use the excuse that they just ran hot but you used that excuse when he came back and they have continued running hot. He is completely not needed on this team

Your obsession with Stanton is embarassing really.

So now Encarnacion has better intangibles than Stanton because his numbers aren't good, got it.
