According to person briefed on Posada's exchange with Girardi, Posada told mgr he was "insulted" about hitting 9th and "threw a hissy fit."

@Joelsherman1
Joel Sherman
I hear Posada is not retiring and also that #Yankees were not on board with him pulling self from lineup, clear clash here

It's really all a pretty big shame. Jorge's K/BB rates are well within career norms and he's actually ahead on HRs/PA. His problem is that unsustainably low .162 BABIP.

Montero as a full time DH? Cause we kind of set at C and nobody needs Cervelli for his hitting.

Is he gonna say something like Girardi is too nice of a guy to take him out and he realizes he's hurting his team?

Edit: wow didn't see above ... Guess he's not gonna call Girardi a nice guy lol

Not too surprising he threw a hissy fit.

His walk rate is down and his strikeout rate is up, although not by a lot. More importantly, his LD% is 11.4% compared to 20% for his career, which makes his BABIP understandable.

Montero catching once or twice a week and DHing the rest of the time seems good to me. Then Cervelli can slide into the mascot/emergency catcher role, which he's perfect for.

BTW, John and Suzyn on the possibility of Posada being pissed about hitting ninth:

John: "Lots of guys bat ninth."
Suzyn: "Jason Varitek does it."

I don't know why, but that exchange made me laugh pretty hard.

this

You need to look at LD %s when you evaluate BABIP otherwise the # is largely meaningless. If you roll over weak ground balls every single at-bat, your BABIP isn't going to be very high no matter what. In before Phildo tells me I'm wrong, but my usual rough approach is LD% + 0.12 = what BABIP should be

so yeah he's running bad, but not as bad as you think

last i checked it wasn't up to posada to tell anyone where he bats.

jeter, maybe... ;-)

but posada... um no. gtfo. no one is bigger than the organization. bill belichick would ship him out of town in heartbeat.

i don't think "cost effective" is a priority of the yankees but i agree there's no one in the world picking up his $11m tab.

regardless he is being a baby.

"That's how this all started, sitting next to a fox executive on a flight that led to you appearing right here... now."

Joe to himself: "I hope that executive dies."

She starts saying something and Joe quickly goes "THAT'S IT! THANK GOD! THANK YOU GOD! THE INNING IS OVER"

It's times like these that I love Google's "search social network" tool:

_bmc123_‎ I never thought a broadcast with Buck, McCarver and Rose could get any worse. But Fox found a way by adding Sarah Silverman. #justawful

LoHudInsider‎ Did Posada pay Fox to put Sarah Silverman in the booth to change the conversation on Twitter? If he did, smart use of that $ Jorge. #Yankees

CBurkeSports‎ Bigger train wreck just now: Bruins' last two minutes or Joe Buck-Sarah Silverman disaster?

davelipman‎ I just watched Sarah Silverman on Fox. I think surviving it was actually one of Joe Buck's finer moments. #mlb

RoFloSC‎ Artie Lange approved of Sarah Silverman's appearance with #JoeBuck

JoeIrizarry‎ RT @richarddeitsch: Think of the worst TV idea ever. It now ranks behind Fox Sports putting Sarah Silverman on the Red Sox-Yanks game.

ALargeRegular‎ So will this game be remembered as the Sarah Silverman game or game that ended Jorge Posada's career with the #Yankees #RedSox

JennaLaineBucs‎ Sarah Silverman made switching over to Lightning vs Bruins an easy choice.

jaimequevola‎ RT @robertcarlos: Being a red sox fan is about being a loser - Sarah Silverman. Indeed

lanerizz‎ Judging from Twitter, I'm really happy I'm watching Anaconda and not Sarah Silverman in the booth for the #RedSox #Yankees game.
