Fine with me. Rhame is an idiot for stirring them up and he's not good. In fact, I'm not even sure he was throwing at him. He just might be unable to locate his fastball.
On a better note, three Mets pitchers have HRs already before the end of April.
A 53.8% hard hit rate and 91.2 mph average exit velocity is a concern in tight games. He's going to need to strike out nearly half the batters he faces with that kind of contact otherwise.
I'm willing to admit I was wrong about the Seattle trade. I crapped on it assuming Cano would probably still be a decent second baseman maybe this year and next. I had no idea how little he would contribute.
Actually, that's not right either. A quarter of the way through the season and here are all of Robby Cano's contributions to the Mets:
- Replacement level play (0.1 fWAR).
- Not paying attention to how many outs there are.
- Concussing one of the few players who were actually performing well.
- A large part in probably getting his manager fired this week.
Odd to think Mickey is the problem when guys like Conforto, McNiel, Alonso are all performing. It's the guys who Brodie brought in who are tanking. Especially the older players.
Pitchers all suddenly suck. What's different? Same pitchers, same pitching coach. New catcher.
At least that catcher is one of the best hitting backstops in the league. But let's bring in a new hitting coach, who was run out of Chicago because his style clashed with the players. Cubs bats are thriving with him gone. Kris Bryant is hitting HRs again, but Wilson Ramos has become a ground ball machine, trying to make more contact and poke balls the other way.
Yeah, this is all Mickey's fault. He'll probably be thrilled to be out of here. I don't know who in their right mind would want any part of this. Probably gonna have to coax Terry Collins out of retirement. He loves old school baseball and old school players.
Meanwhile, the Yankees are picking up guys like Luke Voit and Giovanny Urshela off the scrap heap who are killing it with nearly the entire starting lineup out because the front office has a clue.
With the exception of following a few guys (Alonso, deGrom, Conforto, McNiel, Nimmo, Thor, Wheeler), I think I'm out on giving a **** about wins and losses as a team as soon as Mickey is gone.
