Wouldn't be surprised if they lost every single game the rest of the season. Should Syndergaard and deGrom be on the block for some elite prospects? No way they will be pitching at a high level the next time the team is good.
2015 Game 5... "Harvey's Better" vs Strausburg... seems like light years ago. At least we got to see this "big 5" pitch together for 2-3 turns before it came completely apart a-la Wilson, Izzy, Pulsupher 20 years ago.
How everyone feel about the Noah and Jake trade speculation in the tabloids. I'm all for it, I was a huge supporter of trading Harvey at the deadline in 2015 when his value was sky high. Under the assumption even if the mets 5 starters all pan out, there is no way they can pay all of them.
There are rumors from good MLB sources that the Mets turned down Mookie Bets for Harvey in 2015.
After tonight, Brandon Nimmo is tied for 33rd in baseball (w/ Gary Sanchez among others) in MLB with 1.5 fWAR. He has 109 PAs. Nobody above him has fewer than 151 PAs. Only one other player in top 60 w/ less than 120 PAs (Mitch Moreland 1.2 fWAR).
Don’t believe this team has a run in them. They’re just not good.
Re: next season, Bruce/Vargas/Swarzak on the books for $31 million. Shame that instead of spending that on a star like Machado, they have an aging, replacement level OF, a historically bad SP and an injured 33 y/o RP with one good year on his resume.
So whenever Cespedes and Frazier come back, who goes? Would think/hope Reyes is one at this point. I guess Evans too. Better question might be who plays?
Nimmo has earned regular starting time in my opinion with Cespedes and Conforto... so Bruce/Gonzalez at 1b and Frazier/Bautista split time at 3b?
You would think it has to be Reyes at this point because he clearly hasn't been able to do anything in this role. But with the injuries they've suffered Reyes probably gets more of a chance until at least the end of June or so.
