The post-season is absolutely the reason they got him.

Lol. Yeah a team with a ton of depth offensively picked up a player from a team 20 under for one simple reason ! The post season !

I'm pretty positive he is being brought here to be a pinch runner on the 40 man roster.

You mis-understand post-season roster construction if you don't think he's going to be on it. Teams don't need bench depth in the post-season because starters don't get days off. They do need a guy who can pinch run, steal a base, and score the winning run though.

Colon 8 scoreless and rolling ... let's take him out, because it's a save situation! But if it's 4-0, they might leave him in. Makes perfect sense.

I hate "the book".

0-2 two outs he throws a belt high fastball over the heart of the plate. Astonishing.

I think we should keep Colon on the roster for the playoffs just in case a brawl breaks out. His fat would absorb all punches and the thought of him sitting on your head would make the other team think twice.

I'm happy Colon pitched well and everything but I'd rather have Familia pitch the 9th every time.

Was thinking Terry should've went with Colon. Only 97 pitches thrown plus Familia threw a lot of pitches yesterday, could've saved Familia for tomorrow. Now clippard probably has to close tomorrow.

please stop making sense

100 pitches, 75% strikes, four hits. The only guy in Queens not on a pitch count. Yet he takes him out, to use a closer who pitched yesterday and who they didn't really need to pitch tonight.

I couldn't fault not letting the younger guys go too far past 100 right now, but he coulda let Colon go tonight.

Really ? We won't agree much on anything strategy wise. Im still in the camp of letting him start game three though.

You want Colon to start game three?

How would you set up playoff pitching roster with current playoff scenario ?

In no order. Harvey, degrom Niese syndergaard. Syndergaard starts only home games

Thanks for correcting my "misunderstanding" guys. You're both right and I am wrong (lol).

I'm very happy you explained to me about the whole guys not getting days off in the playoffs thing. I wasn't aware of that. Alderson has a moneyball mentality, they value SB less because of the potential for outs on the bases. EY jr will get starts here and there (especially if the Mets run away with it)... if he doesn't hit at least a little he will not get a roster spot.

He's on this team to be an expanded roster pinch runner who MIGHT get a postseason roster spot if he impresses. Having a pinch hitter off the bench who can actually hit is more value able than a stolen base guy.

Perhaps you guys misunderstand that in the National League this guy called a 'pitcher' bats. They tend to not be very good hitters and often teams use someone called a "pinch hitter" to bat in their place.

I think the playoff rotation will depend a lot on how September goes for these guys. deGrom and Harvey are the only locks.

EYJR will be on the post-season roster and may not even get a plate appearance. Doesn't have to even steal bases, just be faster than the guy on base and more likely to score on a hit.

The other 4 pitchers in the rotation are clearly ahead of Bart. Matz could easily put himself there if he pitches well when he comes up. Bartolo is a nice story but he has the highest era and second highest whip of anyone in the rotation. I'm happy he has pitched well his last two starts, but the fact is before that he was getting absolutely shelled.

Now I guess I could change my mind if he comes out and has an awesome September and Syndergaard continues to struggle and Matz isn't as good as I think he is, but I just find it to be unlikely at this point. And there is absolutely no chance I'm throwing Bart ahead of Neise in game 3 unless Neise regresses.

I have a a gut feeling Matz is going to have a dominant September and Synder/Niese will not... if that does happen will be quite disappointing if he's not in the rotation.

I usually hate the 5th inning managing of leaving a pitcher in to qualify for a win no matter what. That being said, pulling Harang there when the Phillies are a billion runs under .500 was pretty cruel.

So Cespdes had done 18 at bats without accidentally hitting a single while trying to homer in all of them, but nice homer there!
