Not having hernandez carter strawberry doc and piazza retired is pathetic. And yes if we had 8 numbers retired in 53 years it would still mean something

I guess Carter on ceremony, but look at all the guys that were better than him as a Met. He only really had a good season or two with them. Alfonso deserves it if you're giving it to Piazza though. Was just as good over the same period basically.

I'm fine with them not retiring numbers. Simple fact is this team has sucked for most of my adult life or woefully underachieved. Honor sure, but don't deify them.

LOL at retiring Strawberry and Gooden. Hernandez, Carter, and Piazza were stars on other teams. I like the idea of retiring only a guy like Seaver. I think in 25 years the Mets may have a few more numbers retired. Wright probably will get retired although I wouldn't. The pitchers now though ...

I actually like that Seaver is the only one retired too. My biggest problem is that Stengel is retired. I've always found retiring 2 managers and 1 player very very odd. I mean I think the way Gil died and everything.... I get that one. But Casey??? , it's just peculiar.

Ed Coleman reports on WFAN that Mets contemplating putting Syndergaard in pen for post season and that they will likely move him there in Sept so he is used to role. Guess I'm just a prophet.

The Mets are doing incredible things. Can't believe what I'm witnessing. Now all that's left to solidify roster is Matz returning with success and getting bullpen help in form of Gee, Black, Verrett, or possibly Niese/Colon goes down there come playoff time.
