We were talking about since 2000.

Santana carried that team on his back in 2007 and his problems were more due to injury than poor performance. He wasn't what we hoped for when you look at his entire tenure, but there were far bigger busts. Kinda the same with Pedro. He was at least awesome for one year before injury.

I'm not sure what the contracts are for most players, so I guess I'll defer to you guys on that.

Bonilla is getting $1m this year and so far he's outperformed Granderson.

7th best slg in Mets history

Better than Ventura better than alfonzo better than ncreynolds better than floyd

He was disappointing at times but was hardly a bust

Batted .270 not .220

Kind of agree. Bonilla got a bad rap because of an attitude problem and bad first year. He rebounded to put up consecutive above average seasons in his 2nd and 3rd year and also his 4th before the trade to Baltimore. Not as good as he was with the Pirates and probably not what they paid him for, but hard to compare him to guys like Vaughn and Bay.

And the entire starting OF is now dead.

On the bright side, Wheeler's secondary stuff looked better tonight.

Bay Watch
Jason Bay accumulated 0.8 fWAR in 288 games with the Mets
Curtis Granderson trails him by 0.7 fWAR after 13 games.

Somehow, fangraphs has Granderson at 0.8 DEF despite 2 drops I've seen so far this year. Guess he's exhibited some range out there that isn't seen by the naked eye.

Didn't realize it was an afternoon game today. Went to see Captain America and missed it. Was fooled into thinking it was a movie about David Wright.

Anyway, read the recap when I got home. All I see is Valverde HR. How the hell is this team over .500? Are we just catching every team at the right time?

Yeah super lucky so far. Bullpen is easily the worst in the league and the offense is bottom 3. The only major league quality regulars the Mets have playing right now are Wright and Murphy (and Murphy is average, at best).

Add Lagares when he gets back and maybe Granderson or CYoung but I doubt it. Still a 75 win team, at best.

And Wright's not even playing well yet! Only Lagares, Recker, and Duda are above replacement level. Tejada is so bad, he'll set a new record for futility if he keeps his job. If 5 WAR is all star level, what's -5 WAR? He's like the anti-Mike Trout. Think of it this way. If you swapped out Tejada for Trout, you might legitimately go from an under .500 team (75 wins) to a playoff team (90 wins) with just 1 player right now.

Half hour before game and Mets haven't announced lineup yet. Speculation is a trade has been made. Goodbye Ike?

Hope it's not Snyder or Tabata coming back. Bucs want to make room in their OF for Polanco.
