I heard this today and the pitching has me a little concerned.
After Santana, its seems like we do not have anyone the team can rely on.

I am not in love with everything Omar did or did not do this off-season, but I have to say that I think the bullpen is going to be sick, at least through the 8th inning. I have my doubts about K-Rod, but I readily acknowledge my fear may be misplaced, especially if Jerry does not overwork him and splits closing duties with Pootz. Hopefully the starting pitching can hold up their end of the bargain.

Someone reporting to Spring Training "out of shape" right after he signs a big contract is certainly a reason for concern.

Yawn, concerns over perez in light of a new contract are probably standard with anyone in his shoes, so meh.

Can't get worked up about the others, just spring training. I just can't put stock in this.

About krod, he projects very well this year, so as long as he doesn't blow his elbow out, he should be more than fine.

To me the corner outfield spots are much more of a concern. Murphy has 130 big league AB's, Church cannot stay healthy for a full season and a serious regression by Tatis seems inevitable.

we gave ollie superstar money -- so we need to expect superstardom from him

i still wish they didnt extend omar's contract until we see how this season went

Citi is beautiful. Still surprised at how many seats have some part of the field obstructed.

An I still miss Shea.

damn, wonder how long it will be before I see a game at Citi.

Petco's a good place to see a game though, especially since my buddy has seats behind home plate and we'll be playing the Padres.

I agree. All the new ballparks are pretty much the same. Among the new breed, I've been to Cleveland, Pitt, St Louis, Detroit, Milwaukee, Philly, Cincy, and now Citi. To me, the only thing that truly differentiates each is the setting, and that's why I think everyone raves about PNC.

I would say there were about 15 thousand people there at most. Hard to tell because so many were walking around the whole time. I took the train, but my brothers drove and had no issues parking, but that was probalt because of the small crowd.

Wait wtf? Theres obstructed seats? What happened to every seat has a great view? Which seats are obstructed? Sections if possible. I have cheap seats for 2 games an I'll be pissed if they are obstructed and I wasn't told.

Parking is $18 now??? How is that even possible? Can you get to Shea via the LIRR?

I've got to go and do some reading on the other new parks to see if they have as many obstructed views. With the Mets and Yankees both having a fair number of seats with portions of the field blocked off, maybe it's more difficult than I thought to build a stadium with all clear sightlines for 42,000+ seats.

I wasn't taking detailed notes yesterday, but the ones I noticed were, the last few outfield sections in RF. Similar to Shea where if you were in the last sections in the Upper Deck or Mezz in right field (or left field) you couldn't see your respective outfield corner. Same is true in Citi, at least from the front part of the sections. Not sure what it's like in the top of the sections. Also, I didn't get around to LF so I'm not sure if the LF corner is blocked from view there.

The other obstruction I noticed was if you are in the back-left part of Section 139. I forget what's blocking the view, but you are obstructed from seeing the fence/warning track area in LF, especially the parts that jut out deeper in left-center and LF.

It's possible because parking is still quite limited, and people like to drive, and will pay $18 to park. Plus, you pay $18 to park and that basically the same price to bring a family of 4 on the subway, and less than that family of 4 on the LIRR.

And just to note, they were nice enough to to gouge everyone yesterday. Parking was $5.

Yes, and it is encouraged.

in the upper deck you lose some back of the outfield wherever you sit which is to be expected. Also those seats have an obstructed EXPERIENCE the ballpark seemed 50x better when we changed seats, but I cant quite explain why, there is just a disconnect if youre seated where you can't see the scoreboard.

Also, I agree with Jordan about the setting being the main difference. Out of other NEW stadiums ive been to its been Pitt, Cleveland, Colorado, and Philly. Pitt was my favorite but mainly for where it was. They all look THE SAME!

Seats with more space and green... Check
Concourse with stuff to distract you from the game... Check
Jagged outfield fence with INTENTIONAL quirks ..... Check

Bring back shea

How do I take LIRR to Citi? I know it doesn't stop at Citi itself.

Yes, it does. There is a Shea Stadium stop on game days. (Now called "Mets-Willets Point"). Port Washington branch. If you're coming from a different branch on LI, you go to Woodside and transfer there.
