Johan pitched an incredible game in 2008 with his knee in shreds to keep the Mets' playoff hopes alive.
Glavine had the worst start of his career the last game of 2007.
No sane Met fan should ever compare the two. Gmafb
I hate when people say we can never compare things that aren't EXACTLY the same. Then what the hell is the point of the comparison. I like Santana and hate Glavine. But this managerial "get them the win" bull**** is something that has happened with both. Anyone who posted here during Glavine's tenure knows how much I hated Glavine, BEFORE the 2007 final start.
******* of the Game : Jason Bay - Leaned Nieuwenheis earlier for missing that sign, but taking away that schmuck Schneider's double gives him immunity. Coulda went Ike Davis again but at least he didn't try to single-handily wreck an inning with routine DP. Also he at least hasn't been Jason Bay for the last 2+ years. Go Mets!
Season Standings:
Ike Davis (2)
Jason Bay (1)
Josh Thole (1)
Johan Santana (1)
Daniel Murphy (1)
Mike Nickeas (1)
Andres Torres (1)
Anyway. I was thinking how I was ok with today no matter what seeing as we took 2 immediately. But **** that. Pelfrey needs a good outing and good defense behind him today. Also Mets seems to jump on Hamels too. A sweep here is a huge way to start the year and very well could give me hope through the rest of the month. So lets go.
pelf is sooo bad, he got so lucky his last outing and now hes already looking like garbage...im a big pelfrey fan but honestly hope he get either sent to the pen or released or whatever cuz i cant watch him pitch anymore..
it used to be more bearable because a few years ago he either pitched like garbage or like a cy young contender but nowadays it seams a lot more like the former
When the runner at 1st is slower than **** and the pitcher can't bunt worth crap, bunting is so wildly incorrect yet still so automatic.
1)Even if he somehow still gets the bunt down kind of decently they often STILL get the lead runner, now you have a slow runner on first who in addition to be slow doesn't really know how to run the bases.
2)Him bunting into a DP is probably more likely than if he just swings.
3)If he does swing, at least when he makes an out the catcher is still usually the runner instead of the pitcher.
4)If he hits a pitcher-like groundball he actually MIGHT advance the runner
5)He can get lucky and get a hit. That's at 10% the bunt being successfully probably is only 30%
Conclusion: Until Mike Pelfrey actually LEARNS from the hitting coach how to bunt, he should not be bunting with slow runners on 1st.
