1963 home of the Mets? I never realized Shea was supposed to open in '63. I'm glad it didn't because it gave me the opportunity to see my first Met game at The Polo Grounds. Played the Phillies...Mets lost ldo but I actually saw Duke Snider get a hit for the Mets.

After looking at the '63 schedule the game I saw was the only one the Mets lost to the Phils that series. Mets swept a DH the next day.

Enough of that old time ****...'09 is the time to shine! Lets go Mets!

Mojo, that's a great post with the picture of Shea with the colored tiles outside. I have not felt an ounce of sadness about Shea no longer being around, but I have to say seeing the *old* Shea brings back a lot of memories.

Anybody up for some fantasy baseball???

We had some interest in a 2+2 league and so far I've got a bunch of Phillies Phans so I figured I might as well ask here since I'm sure that will make for a great league. Or at least some great trash talking.

Its just a standard 5x5 league.

Me too. But I'm glad they aren't pushing him and I'm glad he's not pitching in the WBC.

Who's leading for the 5 spot now? Livan?

Any chance they add anyone else for the pen besides Villone? I really want Will Ohman, and his agent said they are willing to drop their price.

I guess. Garcia has looked bad and Redding hasn't even pitched yet due to a sore shoulder. Since Niese still has options left he's going to start the year in AAA. Right or wrong that's just the way these things always work out.

I don't think so. Maybe if Feliciano gets hurt or the Mets trade Sanchez they'd then go out and try to get Ohman or Reyes or whomever is still available. Villone is here on a minor league deal. Just like De Los Santos and Dessens. I'd put the chances of any of those guys making the team out of ST as pretty slim.

If Livan or Garcia win the #5 spot then Redding is going to be in the bullpen which means the Mets would then have to decide between Stokes, some of the young guys (Kunz, Robertston, Parnell, etc.), the rule V'ers (O'Day, Cherry) or these guys here on minor league deals like Villone, De Los Santos and Dessens.

I really hope that pitching with one leg down the stretch last year didnt cause Johan to blow out his elbow.

I would not be upset if they went north with de los Santos if there is anything that can be done to reduce his walks.

Sucks ass that I won't be able to post in this thread during Mets games. Damn time zones.

If you don't sleep in real late you can probably catch the last 3 or 4 innings. My brother went to Korea to teach a few years ago. He hooked up a slingbox at my parent's house before he left and he was able to watch the last few innings of most games unless he drank too much soju the night before ldo.

Good news he got through a BP session ok. Still headed for an MRI however.

Quote:
Santana survives morning test
This has to be considered good news. Johan Santana made it through this morning's bullpen session without interruption. He began the workout by long-tossing with K-Rod at about 150 feet -- though Santana was lobbing it compared to Rodriguez -- then threw about 19 warmup pitches from the mound, with the catcher in front of the plate.

When Santana finally had the catcher move back into position, he threw 31 pitches, just fastballs and changeups. His velocity seemed fine. I was watching from about 10 feet away -- along with GM Omar Minaya and assistant GM Tony Bernazard -- and Santana went through his routine without any obvious setbacks.

Afterward, Santana reported no discomfort in his elbow, and now he's headed back to New York for tests. The Mets will have to wait until he returns to update his throwing schedule and there is no timetable for his next throwing session.

"I feel fine," Santana said. "It’s the first time in the last four days that I’ve thrown but I feel good. I don’t think there will be any problem."

Home for a few days and it feels awesome to be watching the Mets on channel 11 and hear Keith talk. Church just had a really tough at bat.

LOL at that Buckneresque play by Sutton. Is it sad I'm getting excited about a spring training game(note: My first experience of watching the mets all year).

Scheider just hit a grand slam. Obviously he is getting his HR quota out of the way now so he can only hit 1 or 2 in the regular season.

Mike Francessa had an interview Friday afternoon with Johan on WFAN. Johan said it's not that big a deal he feels the same pain every spring.

The Mets want to make certain nothing goes wrong for their Ace.

Johan will have a 20 game season with an era of under 3.50 and upwards of 200 strikeouts.

Yeah, just watched that half-inning. Some nice looking AB's. Wish it counted

I think I've come to terms this morning that I will now be paranoid re: Johan for all of this year.

I was crapping myself when the news started coming out, the possibility of missing opening day, the scheduled MRI, etc., and now I'm even more anxious with all the positive news coming out of his bullpen session tomorrow. I'm taking everything with a grain of salt until I see him take the mound in April, and even then I feel like I'll now be waiting for him to throw "that pitch" where he calls out Manuel the trainer, and walks off the mound....

Somebody slap me out of this!
