Grit for sure in this one.

Seriously with all this doomsday talk? Yea, the injuries are absolutely ridiculous, but they're not season ending. The goal is to just stay close to the phillies and get help as these guys come back. If everything falls apart, we could try trading tatis and maybe schneider if anyone wants him, though we might get nothing back unless we eat some money there.

No need to 'dump' payroll though, plenty of guys are coming off in this offseason.

I wonder how all these injuries affect manuel and minaya's status, the injuries might give both of them a pass. I don't feel all that comfortable with minaya spending $20-30M this offseason...

Totally gritty.

I agree the team needs to tread water until they get healthy.

Injuries should hurt Minaya, because of the lack of depth this team has.
I also do not know if Omar will spend wisely. Perhaps we should find where he gets his bagels and talk about the teams needs.

Injuries ARE the GM's fault. Old players get injured more. The Mets do not have a young team. Is it really "unlucky" that Delgado is injured, or that Putz is on the DL? I don't think so.

it's okay to be an optomist, but you are way too optomistic about this team

That's an asinine statement.

While the Mets are definitely an old team, but you cannot blame injuries on the GM. Minaya didn't go tear Reyes's hamstring or injure Putz's elbow. The players did that. Plenty of old players are able to get through seasons without any injury issues. Conversely, many young players have injury problems. The fact that the Mets have so many injuries is a problem of poor conditioning, poor communication and bad luck, not the fact that Omar brought in veteran players.

The core of the Mets is not old at all? Reyes, Wright, Beltran, Santana, Krod, Pelfrey.

The Mets have the second oldest team in baseball. The average age of their roster is slightly below 30 years old.

Putz was a huge huge injury risk and we knew that when we got him

We knew church was an injury risk this year too

Reyes injury is a fluke

we started the year with Murphy as a starting outfielder with no real backup plan

Shef fell into our lap thank god or we would be under .500

it's def frustrating

I completely agree with Kyle on this one.
Omar knew he put together an older team.

I expected Delgado to down last season with the hip injury.
The team got one more year out of him then they should have.

Omar not only knew that he had an old team, he knew he had an old team with ZERO depth.
