No, which is why I was saying Dantoni has to go.

You change your system to accomodate guys like Amare and 'Melo, not the other way around.

This ain't no highschool/college team.

Part of the problem is Billups' ineffecitveness on the PnR. It's Duhonesque.

You don't trade for Melo and then stick him in the corner because spacing is all that matters. D'antoni isn't as good of an offensive coach as I thought he was if he can't meet in the middle with his system v his talent.
Copstache has tried using some sets where Melo and Stat curl into the paint from the weakside instead of just leaving Melo in the corner. It's had inconsistent results.

Melo and Stat have been turned into jump shooters without enough spacing. This is exactly what I feared the offense would become when we traded for Melo.

Agree on the pnr, made a post on it in TZ earlier. IMO it is clearly the biggest problem with the offense. Not only is Chauncey awful at it, TD is poor as well.

With that being said the Knicks offense has been pretty good. I think up to some point last week it was the best in the league since the trade. That has surely gone down some in the past week or two, but the major problem is still defense and rebounding. The offenses problem is going stagnant in key spots for long stretches.

Hold on a second, what were ye running when ye went 6 - 3 over the first 9 games post trade?

Is it far too simple to merely say - "go back to that?"

I appreciate the enthusiasm, Knicks fans at the Garden, but in round one can you stick to the Boston sucks chant and leave Paul Pierce's name out of it?

+1000000000
D'antoni needs to create slower, more structured system where Amare and Melo can excel. However, in that system they will also need to play defense and D'antoni just sucks at it.

What is the status of Melo's contract? I thought the whole thing was that he was going to be a FA this summer? But http://hoopshype.com/salaries/new_york.htm has him signed for a few more years.

You thought the Knicks were going to basically turn over their entire roster and not lock down Melo with an extension?

It annoys the **** out of me D'antoni is trying to make Carmelo adapt his system instead of making his system adapt to Carmelo.

Why? He carried the team until he was benched for like half of 4th quarter.

I didn't watch the second half, but my comment wasn't about his play. He just bothers me.

I'd much rather face Chicago in the first round than Boston. Thoughts?
