The Houston Rockets, Sacramento Kings and New York Knicks have agreed to terms that will expand the Houston-Sacramento deal into a three-way trade that lands Tracy McGrady with the Knicks, according to NBA front-office sources.

The Knicks will acquire McGrady and Sergio Rodriguez from Sacramento, sources said.

The Rockets get Kevin Martin, Jordan Hill and Jared Jeffries from New York and will have the right to swap first-round picks with New York in 2011 as well as take on New York's 2012 first-round pick.

all this to get rid of jared jefferies, and to get some summer league guys instead of letting nate walk. We BETTER get LBJ and Bosch this year.

The 2011 pick is top 1 protected, while the 2012 pick is top 5 protected. FML.

2011 is top-1 protected, 2012 is top 5 protected, which is fine.

It's not fine, because those protections mean the Knicks will get desperate and overpay for crappy FAs like Boozer or Allen. With better protection, the Knicks can be more selective in how they handle their cap space.

You are too negative, you seem to keep forgetting Walsh is the GM now. I have more trust in him than anyone.

Best thing about this week was getting Sergio Rodriguez.

As I've said several times - when Nate drops 49 on Bron Bron in the clinching Game 6 in Boston, guess what happens?

Deal sucks but whatever, if it is that deal or nothing I'd rather take the deal. They had to make the deal, people who think otherwise greatly overestimate our chances of getting one big time FA when we can't offer two maxes.

Yeah, making the trade is >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> standing pat and doing nothing.

That's why I was surprised to see people not wanting this deal when it first surfaced.

Yeah, I didn't want to give all that up, but the deal had to be done. Before the deal our only chance this summer was the longshot that Lebron said "**** it, I'm coming to NY regardless of who is there."

The chance to get Lebron has at least doubled (to what % who knows, but it is much more likely now), and gives a bunch of decent fall back options.

High risk, high reward. Probably a decent philosophy, though it's just annoying that they're underdogs to get one of the big FAs, so that means they're favorites to suck for like 10 more years.

Doubled is definitely too strong but it definitely increased, which I guess I can't fault them for.

Depends on what you think the chances are before the second max opened up.

I've maintained that it was like 20ish percent. Definitely couldn't have went to 40. Probably increased by like 50% though.

Obv all meaningless speculation though
