ill check boxscores and stuff out of habit, but I'm jumping ship. Wasted my 20s on this pile of garbage and now that I'm outside the NYC metro area there's just no reason to continue the pain

basketballs too good right now to watch Amar'e refuse to box out or even try to stay in front of his man and Melo go 13-31 every game as we score 84

gl guys might be back from 2015 when we have capspace and Dolan dies from a black heart

So I was listening to Boomer and Carton this morning and they were ripping Lin. They were basically saying he should have stayed and screwed the Knicks. Then they said Felton is better. They're confused as hell about Lin imo.

If Lin had stayed, I know he would have been treated with the same disrespect; they would have said that the Knacks paid way too much for him and that the Knicks should have let him go to Houston.

This team is such a cluster****, and I'm actually glad Lin left. He would have been the fall guy for any bad run the team would have had next year.

Carton has always been a huge Melo fan, and I suspect that's coloring his attitude a bit. But I also think that these guys genuinely don't understand the financial ramifications, good and bad, of the decision.

Regarding Lin's basketball abilities, I find the divergence of opinion pretty interesting. Larry Brown reportedly thinks Lin will just be a backup. Hubie Brown and Magic both gushed about Lin last year, declaring he was the real deal. I'm not really swayed by such opinions, personally. I doubt any of those guys watched Lin as closely as Knick fans did, i.e., every minute that he played.

To illustrate, in the last couple of weeks that he played, I paid pretty close attention to Lin's so-called deficiencies, such as driving to his left, turning the ball over, foul shooting and defense. I distinctly recall that I thought he was making incremental progress in each area. It was small progress, but enough to give me confidence that he would continue to improve. Yet, I hardly ever heard sports commentators make that observation.

I don't know whether I'll watch the Knicks this year, but I know I'll go out of my way to try to watch Lin.

Lin improved his passing ability (less telegraphic) and improved on turnovers.

His defensive deficiencies are overblown. He's awful 1v1 but he's very good at helper defense, moving quickly to double team whoever has the ball. Consequently, he has better defensive numbers than none other than Ray Felton.

Larry Brown is just wrong about Lin being a good backup. I can't help but wonder if he's bitter Lin almost got more money than he did as Knicks HC. That and he coached Ray Felton.

Alright, let's stop bloviating.

Edit: My favorite part of the article is how he writes this: "was a breath removed from playing in the NBA's D-League" followed directly by this: "Jeremy Lin is a slightly above average player".

NO way anyone can get me to read anything written by Stephen A. Smith.

Anyway, I've decided that there is a perfectly reasonable, rational reason for a true, die-hard Knicks fan not only to stop watching them this year, but to actively root for the team to suck. Here is my reasoning:

As presently constructed, this team stands no chance of contending. Yet, management seems to think everything's cool so long as they make the playoffs and perhaps win 1 series. No true fan should be happy with this. The only chance of turning the franchise around is either for Dolan to disappear and/or for them to suck so badly, and so quickly, that nobody could deny the need for a complete rebuilding.

What does Benigno think of all this?

Sports radio guys (and most people) in general have a huge pro-owner bias. The millionaire players, not the billionaire owners, are the selfish ones disgustingly trying to get every dollar they can and not caring about the game or the fans.

Isola is being such a douche on Twitter. He's gone absolutely bonkers with the "coward Lin didn't play at 85%" thing.
