Wouldn't it be the 3 seed?

No, the 3 division champions, plus the next best team by record, get seeded 1-4. Orlando would get the 3 seed.

And not for nothing, Amare is dunking the ball like a beast again. I hope he can sustain this. You know that Amare is doing okay when he is slamming it down and not just taking 18 foot jumpers all day.

Especially when he's nailing those jumpers anyway

Celtics at Milwaukee, who to root for tonight?

Celtics @ Philly tomorrow night. I'll be rooting for Boston then.

Novak had 10 mins on Wednesday night and 16 minutes on Tuesday night.

Novak has the best individual +/- on the team, so it's obviously not "bad" to have him on the court.

I agree that Novak should play more (at least more than 10 min), but how many minutes is optimal? It's not easy to balance a team this deep on the fly, so I'm giving Woodson a lot of slack and leeway. Kinda hard to argue with 5-0 too.

Wow that is brutal. 3-5 ?

As of yesterday at noon, I tallied this:

Quote:
Remaining opponents' record tallied for rest of season:

Knicks: 442-434 0.504
Celtics: 500-467 0.517
Bucks: 422-532 0.442

I just looked at the Philly schedule and theirs is easier than ours I think, but they are away 11/18 games, and they end their season away for the last 5 games of the season.
Good win for Boston vs Bucks(ends their hot streak and hopefully keeps them from chasing us) and hopefully Boston can get a W vs philly and then lose the remainder of their games as their schedule looks very hard. And w/Knicks vs Tor. and Det. hopefully everything can fall nicely into place.

Philly has been in an absolute tail spin. They are 6-12 in their last 18.

That's having a 0.333 record over 27.27% of the season. It's pretty significant.

I know Boston is on a road B2B but they are getting 6.5 points tonight. I think they're better than that tonight, but we'll see soon enough.

For Philly's final 19 games their opp's record is:

412-466 for 0.469%

is it really that hard to schedule nba games around the msg schedule or whatever? 8 game stretch where 6ers raptors and and pacers are all played twice, pacers back to back seems a little silly.

66 game schedule in less days than it should be is the problem.

Good article about Steve Novak's future role:

http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/kni...ks-future-role

Novak didn't play much vs. Philly because they were hounding him defensively and because they had a smaller line-up out on the floor. So J.R. Smith and Shumpert got more playing time in the 2nd half.

Quote:
Keep in mind, however, the Sixers feature a slightly smaller lineup than most teams, which is why Smith and Shumpert saw the court more. So tonight against the Raptors, Novak should likely get back to his about 15 to 20 minutes per game.

But, hey, if it doesn't happen on the road in Toronto, Woodson will be hard-pressed not to play him more at the Garden. Or he'll hear it from the crowd with "No-vak, No-vak" chants all night.

ugly first half...against a good team Knicks would have been down 20 by half time. Ohh and BDavis is intensely annoying.

Looking grim, still expect a W though.

"Since Woodson’s ascension, the Knicks have been the N.B.A.’s top defensive team, giving up 95.3 points per 100 possessions, the best by a margin of 3 points per 100 possessions."

"On D’Antoni’s watch, the Knicks were a below-average offensive team, averaging 101.9 points per 100 possessions, the eighth-worst rate in the N.B.A.

In fact, in their first three seasons under D’Antoni, the Knicks finished 17th, 17th and 7th in points per 100 possessions. Those figures are rather surprising given the success D’Antoni had with his high-octane offense in Phoenix.

The Knicks have been far more efficient under Woodson, to the tune of 115.8 points per 100 possessions, the league’s fourth-best rate since D’Antoni’s resignation."

I saw on Twitter yesterday that a number of players were relaxing and hitting up the Toronto mall.

Seems like they should have been studying up on their defensive assignments (Derozan just went completely off) and working on their shooting instead.

Non jaded part of post:

 It's a make or miss league.

Just gotta put this loss behind the team (it's first under the Woodson regime), learn from it, and do their best to put another win streak together - playing one game at a time.

Got the W, but was a pretty bad first half performance, play like that vs good teams and we'll get swept.

Amare looks so much better. Just need melo to follow suit and we would be pretty good.

If someone in mid 90s would have told me that Knicks and Bucks will be ever playing meaningful game in the end of March, i probably would have laughed in his face... Hope both Stat and Lin are ready to go tonight.

Looks like it's time for Melo to shine and Novak to get more minutes:

Jeremy Lin is out tonight but he should be back this week. But Amare is out indefinitely. An MRI today revealed a bulging disc in his back.
