Lin needs to get back to attacking the paint, dribbling the ball and avoiding the trap with constant PNRs. He's spending a whole lot of time just waiting for the open man instead of creating space for the open man.
Maybe all the cheap shots are finally getting to him but he's just gotta get back to his attack mode.
I think there's a variety of things going on here.
At times - particularly in the beginning of games - Lin definitely looks like he's deferring too much, as if he's trying to orchestrate a master plan and get everyone involved. Then, later in the game, it looks like he abandons the idea and decides to get aggressive again, which usually is a good thing.
I also think that the hard hits are affecting him, maybe not in his approach but probably in his conversion rate.
With regard to the traps, at first (see Miami game) he appeared rattled by the defense. But in the past few games, it looks to me like he's getting better handling them. He's passing out of the traps faster and forcing less.
Depending on when the trapping occurs, though, Lin's options are limited. At times, they are trapping him right over the timeline. When that happens, all he can do is pass quickly, at which point he is effectively taken out of the game but the rest of the team should be able to take advantage. Problem is that the team is offering no help right now. They should be able to swing the ball around and get an easy basket. That never happened in last night's game.
I also think the coaches can help out, for example, by making sure that there is another decent ball-handler (Melo or Fields) in the vicinity of the trap.
this is like the most boring trade deadline in recent memory.
i wish dwight would resign or get traded to chicago already or just make up his mind so the dominos can fall. maybe someone like NJ will press the "gotta keep deron" panic button and make a dumbass hump for stat trade or somethin.
OK when is Dantoni getting fired? it was painful enough to watch Tony Parker drive to the hoop 55 times untouched, but whatever, Spurs are good...Not a crime to get bombed in SA but Bucks?????They just dropped 190 points on us and could have scored another 190. Enough is enough. Can this guy coach??? Like what exactly is he coaching them to do?
I just ordered and received a new Knicks hat in the mail.
Not too late to return it and get a refund..
i kid i kid
Chandler is back playing today, at home vs. the 76ers. Here's to hoping the Knicks can play a good enough game offensively And defensively to win. There's only 26 games left in the season, and they need to get hot to make up ground in the Atlantic division. And that's IF they can make up ground as they are currently 5.5 back of Philly.
Needless to say, today's game with Philly is pretty damn important.
D'Antoni absolutely has to go. There are good coaches all over the country who would line up for this job. There is no reason for the Knicks to settle for a coach who isn't working out, and there is no excuse for the Knicks to be this bad. A team with this roster and depth should be no worse than a 4 or 5 seed in the east. That they might miss the playoffs is a joke. D'Antoni has to be replaced.
Is there any possibility they could trade Chandler, Melo, and maybe a pick for Howard?
jeez this kid is just a big fat baby, trade me or fire the coach.
heard on boomer and carton that melo was really against the JR signing and the knicks went ahead and did it anyways. apparently knicks front office has already started to leak stuff to spin this against melo.
How do you get equal value for Melo in the trade? Melo and Lin for Dwill? Melo for Pau? He wants Dantoni fired and i say he is right. Dantoni had his chance, failed and Knicks need a different voice and different system.
