New York Knicks: You trying to get the pipe? New York Knicks: You trying to get the pipe?

Honestly I think you have it backwards and Dolan is the one fueling this.

Dolan's not stupid enough to think the 600m market cap MSG gained after Lin showed up is the product of Melo or Knicks' awesomeness.

He doesn't understand basketball but he knows money when he sees it.

All of Dolan's decisions have been money/MSG ratings driven. Ditching Lin, even at 25/3, makes no sense in that context.

The only time he did better than that was under Dantoni with a healthy 28 year old Amare.

Even then he wasn't that good.

Ok well when Lin is playing for Houston we'll come back to this. You are giving Dolan way too much credit and ignoring the fact he is a ****ing idiot.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Lin ends up in Houston. I just don't think Dolan would go out of his way to get rid of a cash cow.

It's more likely Grunwold driven IMO.

Well if your theory is correct then Lin will be a NYK? You are trying to have it both ways. If Dolan wanted Lin to be a Knick then he would be a Knick.

Why are you speaking of Dolan in a matter which suggests he is competent? where have you been?

I am still of the opinion Lin will wear a Knicks uniform when MSG stock drops like 20% on Monday. I personally think Dolan really doesn't care about the Knicks beyond what he could make off the team. Grunwold just had to tell him "Melo can carry MSG. I don't want Lin."

I don't think Dolan is competent at all. But fish have their own logic. Dolan's logic circuitry is money and star power driven. Ditching Lin isn't something he'd come up with.

You still haven't given an idea why Grunwald wouldn't want lin? Or why Grunwald would want Lin before Friday but change his mind now when the extra money doesn't hurt NYK flexibility at all?

This has Dolan written all over it.

Personal. He tried playing hardball and got pissed Lin returned the favor. Nothing else fits.

"What he has to learn is that it's not personal," the source told the Daily News."The Knicks merely played by the rules.'' (ESPN)

It's possible Dolan's the one that got pissed but we're talking about someone who negotiates with the likes of Fox and ABC while strumming his guitar in his spare time.

It doesn't even matter who initiated this crap. The whole episode is moronic. Did anyone, other than the Knicks FO, really think Lin wasn't gonna get the max allowed? Our FO is packed by morons. Come to think of it, even if Dolan isn't directly responsible for this particular incident, he is still responsible for packing the FO with morons.

You know what, you're right. It's all Dolan's fault after all.

It's pretty clear they had some sort of handshake deal with Lin who then went and signed the Houston offer sheet which led to Dolan telling Lin to go **** himself.

It's a bad decision of course, but I'm not so sure Lin didn't do his best to get out of NYC for some unknown reason. Whatever amount he makes up in this contract is nothing compared to the endorsements he would have gotten staying on the Knicks so this doesn't really make sense.

Dolan taking it personal and saying **** this let him walk seems 1million times more likely than Grunwald doing it. Especially since Dolan would overrule him if he wanted Lin.

It also makes no sense from a basketball perspective to let him walk since we are over te tax already for the next three years.

I don't understand what you mean by "handshake" agreement. It was well publicized Knicks didn't want to make an offer and was just going to match anything. Not a whole lot for them to talk about.

It was reported Lin had a verbal agreement with Rockets for 28/4. Reports were immediately followed by "leaks" that Knicks were gonna match (who didn't know?) Is it really so odd that the Rockets would up their offer, with or without Lin asking?

Bolded portion is true basically. Lin's smart enough to realize staying with the Knicks will make him a lot more money. Bigger market and better personnel.

Kill yourself dolan

You use Lin's success to leverage a deal with time warner, then you turn around and tell him to go **** himself?

By handshake I was referring to a deal where the Knicks don't have to pay double the final year's salary because of luxury tax and is probably longer with less money per year. I find it hard to believe something like that wasn't on the table, but yeah regardless Lin did something that infuriated Dolan.

Massive lol at Melo quotes that came out--he really hates Lin.

Grunwald explicitly said they weren't offering and were just going to match.

It doesnt' have to be Lin. Rockets wants Lin and are backing it with money.

Could Lin have reached out and maybe given a sweetheart deal? Sure. But would you after the Knicks FO tells you "it's not personal"?

I bet Isiah had something to do with this. Probably whispered into Dolan's ear that Lin was gonna be a bust while they were cuddling

I think I'm past the denial stage, and am now in the stage of anger.

Still a way off from the final stage of acceptance.
