Rumors about Toney Douglas+ 2nd round pick going back to Dallas as a part of sign and trade for Kidd. Also Kmart name is being thrown around for a mid-level exception.

Jr, Novak, Lin, Shump and Kidd. Not a terrible back court. I mean i still remember Chris Duhon as our starting PG.

I hope we can now concentrate on the biggest need: a reliable shooting guard, who can both defend and catch/shoot a decent percentage.

PG: Lin, Kidd
SG: Novak, J.R. Swish (probably), Shumpert (Eventually)
SF: Carmelo
PF: Amare, Jeffries (probably)
C: Chandler, Camby, Gadzuric

Good thing we used our second round pick on a 2/3.

3 years for Camby is ridiculous, but whatever...i guess he can be useful for 15-20 min a night.

I like Camby, but I'm confused why we had to give up so much for an unrestricted free agent.

Can someone explain that to me?

I'm surprised JR resigned, I was sure he didn't want to stay.

Damn good question. We gave up 2 second round picks and we're paying TD's salary. Why didn't we just sign him outright? Some sort of loophole in the salary cap?

I thought JR wouldn't resign because of some alleged issues with melo, but whatever, that is a solid contract for us.

Camby deal is weird, but he can spell chandler for bits, eh.

Pretty happy about the offseason so far. Lin for the whole year + Camby + Kidd + healthy H.H. + no lolstache = a decent improvement over last year

Knicks had only one mid-level exception and couldn't give it to both Kidd and Camby. Since they over the cap, they had to sign and trade for Camby and send back players with salaries to match new Camby contract. Picks were needed to bribe Houston into doing it.
As a result we have 2 centers that can't score but awesome on D, add Jefries, Shump and new defensive minded JR and we have bunch of players that can make up for horrific D by Mare and Lin. The way this team is built we can realistically hope for 2-3 seed and shot at conference finals.

"In a strange twist, a source close to the Lin talks said Houston has been unsuccessful in several attempts to deliver the offer sheet to Knicks general manager Len Grunwald."

WTF? Is this some kind of CIA stall tactic? Unsuccessful in several attempts? LOL. What does that even mean? I'm picturing all kinds of crazy scenarios, bike messengers attempting to get past MSG security...

Could be a Joseph Gordon Levitt movie

Rumor is we might be looking at felton. Obviously disappointed if that's the option the knicks take.

Why? Felton at the QB made garden scream MVP about Mare, Lin is a 15 game star without a pedigree. So what ya know about Lin that we don't?

Well, it has more to do with lin being a cash cow for MSG/knicks which could offset a ton of the contract, better upside than felton, etc. Felton was solid in his last run here, but the lin contract is a pretty easy match imo.

Well, apparently Dolan is taking 40mln hit on the third year of that contract. I couldn't give a rats ass about Dolans money but from bball prospective it's just not worth it. Don't know about a business side of it. Lin was and is an amazing story but i am just not sure if he isn't a tailor made PG for someone like Rondo to go 30/10/20 with 10 steals on his ass every time he faces Knicks. Best case scenario, we go with Felton and Kidd into the season and blackmail Rockets into 1 first and 1 second round pick in exchange of not matching the offer.

Woodson gets fired 75 games into the season, Ewing get hc job and we all set for the deep playoff run. Well...5-6 games deep at least.

I still believe that Knicks will match Lin. And if so, I'm ok with the Felton deal. Felton provides insurance at the point guard position, and I think that Felton/Lin/Kidd are capable of playing with each other, regardless of whether they are labeled as point guards or shooting guards. And this arrangement may only last until January, when Shump returns.

On the other hand, if they don't bring back Lin, I will be so infuriated that I really question whether I'll follow the team this year. I know people say things like that all the time, but this is the first time I've ever thought something like that.

For me, this goes beyond a mere "basketball decision." I was 10 when this team last won a championship. "Linsanity" was the most fun I've had since Ewing was here. I'm not one of those guys who assumes Lin will be a starter, let alone a star. But I'm adamant that we give him a chance to find out. What many owners don't seem to get is that the best part of being a fan is watching young guys develop into players. That's much more fun than just importing established stars. I would rather win 40 games with developing players than 50 games with older players who are at the end of their careers.

If Knicks don't bring back Lin - especially when they are filling their roster with the geriatric crowd - it will feel like a slap in the face. And I bet there are many other fans who feel as I do.

Wynton touched on everything I got to say.

Basically I think Grunwald got pissed that Lin actually decided to play hardball back.

When MSG stock crashes on Monday, Dolan will get involved and match.

PS: Felton is horrible as a starting PG, bad even for a backup.
