Davis/Shump/Smiff/Melo/Chandler with Fields/Novak/Jeffries off the bench is a fine rotation (assuming Jeffries is returning soon).

scoring has to come from somewhere...you are asking Shump and JR to make up 35-40 points a game that we lost with Stat and Lin.

no i'm not. Lin/Stat used probably 30-35 possessions a game (random guess but let's go with it). I don't think it's entirely ridiculous to think that with Davis replacing Lin's possessions at a slightly lower USG, Melo/Smith/Shump/Novak/Chandler's/Fields USG's all increasing to varying degrees we can make up those possessions and then some. Our offense could be hurt (other things can happen too) but lets not forget that Lin/Amare are our 2 worst defenders by a lot (besides Novak).

The comeback to this would be that it sounds like I'm saying we have potential to be the same or better without them so am I implying that they are negative players (i guess amare was for a stretch of this year but he was starting to turn it around and play well)? Of course not and I think we play our best as a team fully healthy but basketball isn't exactly black and white like that especially with deep teams. It isn't linear, with those 2 players in the lineup other player's roles are reduced so for a short period of time I think we can handle the blow.

Neah...they can push Bulls to 5 games. There will be a game where Novak and JR go 15-28 combine.

Some quick notes:

-Man Shump looks so good defensively and his offense looks a lot better lately.

-Melo looks about a million % more confident in his shot. I realize i could be being results oriented but w/e

season killing loss if we actually blow this.

Only started watching from the 4th quarter, I might of jynxed it but have they been playing this bad the whole game?

No, 2nd and 3rd Q were 2 of our best of the season

followed by one of your worst..This Q is embarrassing, i'd rather have Novak on for davis and play Shump at PG and just go for broke with JR/novak shooting constant 3balls combined w/ with melo hitting everything

Davis is just too out of shape to play more than 15 minutes a game. Off the bench he could give us 20 at times but his body just isn't in starter shape.

baron davis played fine, this game wasnt his fault. they went on an 8-0 run real quick vs that terrible lineup and then they boxed a few tough shots and Melo had no help in the 4th.

whatever, we needed this one since the schedule is about to get so tough.

The two deciding stats for the Knicks:
Douglas played 15 minutes.
Fields played 22 minutes.

Anyone have any idea what Woodson's thinking? How does Fields stay on the bench til garbage time in the 4th quarter? And how does Douglas get that many minutes playing that terribly?

It's not like we've taken steps backwards, we had turned a corner than got hit by an injury plague, so it's still very promising for next year.
