Just saw a report knicks are closing in on a deal for JR Smith... be nice to actually have someone in the back court who can shoot a 3 pointer.

Novak is better shooter than smith. Better defender too (smith is amare level useless defensively).

Smith can dribble but I rather keep shumperts defense with two defensive liabilities in amareand melo

Novak and Smith do not play the same position tho.

This looks like a really good way to destroy team chemistry.

JR Smith would be great for our team, our bench needs a pure scorer. Plus he ran the point some in Denver and ran the PnR w Nene well.

Smith/Shump/Novak/Jeffries/Harrelson off the bench is nice

edit: also is there any evidence that he's "bad for team chemistry"? seems like people saying that are just sorting by neck tats and funny gifs

i, for one, am all for anything which means the likely removal of bibby and or toney douglas from the rotation.

I've always liked JR (watched him play twice as a sophomore in my area before he went to north jersey private powerhouse), I like the good things he brings.

My issue is that he is a little crazy and i dont want to ruin what we have going on now and that D'antoni won't be able to play a deep rotation. Once Baron comes back we are going to have too many guys. I like The idea of fields shumpert baron taking the 2 mins, fields and shumpert taking the backup 3 mins, and baron taking non Lin minutes. I think it all fits and it all works in theory.

I'll also concede that jr brings some things we need and he is very talented. I like him, but to copy a tweet he is one of my favorite players when he is someone else's team.

Im also worried about NYC's proximity to Lakewood, NJ and all that comes with that.

I don't feel strongly and very well could be wrong. I hope I am. I just think its a delicate situation and don't want it ruined. But I do realize that man, If it works it could be huge. Plus I want nothing more than to not see bill walker anymore.

The way this season is going with packed schedule and constant 6 games in 9 nights madness, it looks like even rotation nazi like D'antoni is open to use bench as much as possible. Instead of usual 8 man rotation this schedule pretty much forces teams to use 10, if they have enough talent on the bench. Josh Harrelson and Jeffries will be playing a lot of backup minutes for Stat and Chandler. Fields will be playing some 2 but it looks like Knicks actually see him as viable option as back up 3, better then Bill Walker anyway. Shump\Jr\Baron should take all minutes at 2 and at least 12-15 minutes backing up Lin, who ideally should be playing about 30-32 minutes a game. Seeing Walker\Bibby clunking wide open shots just drives me nuts.Walker is actually shooting 3 pointers at 33% but it feels like he is never making them when it really counts.

When Lin is not on the floor offense seems to be dying and someone like JR can really help since he creates his own shot, but yeah anything just to keep Walker\Bibby\Douglas on the bench.

Yeah agree but Melo coming back will solve that too.

I'm all for adding depth in a season like this.
