I'm confident that Melo can do a decent enough job running the point-forward. At the very least it should create some exciting basketball.
Think about it, Douglas works best as a spot up shooter anyway. You have the primary ball-handler, this case it's a forward in Melo, and the floor spacing works better.
Melo should be able to bide time until B-Diddy is healthy, in which the Knicks will have more distribution offensive options than most teams. For example, having a well-run Melo point-forward attack could help wear down LeBron in a playoff series.

This can't be underrated, I'm really surprised seeing all the people in TZ predicting Boston to have either #3 slot or #4 slot in the East.
They're old-er and more prone to injury as well, which would take them out of their chances at the #3 seed. Heck, Rivers will prob. have to rest his stars at certain parts of the season, hurting their win column.
