Re: New England Patriots: One for the thumb: Roger that!

Followup Q's:

--Where do the scalpers hang? Can we get near the stadium without a ticket?

--Do their prices actually drop significantly after kickoff? I've heard yes ("of course! they don't want to eat them!") and no ("they'd rather eat them than damage their own market"). Please don't answer this one, unless you have actual experience--it won't help me if you shout the way you think the world "obviously!" works.

--We're willing to watch the game on tv in Foxboro, if that's where the scalpers are and we can't find a price that doesn't turn our stomachs. If they won't let us near Patriot Place without tickets, we need ideas. Thanks.

Re: New England Patriots: One for the thumb: Roger that!

Anyone else surprised by Devin's speed during that Pick-6 return? Isn't he, like, a 20-year veteran?

I know he's not, just seems like he's been around forever.

You guys are still ignoring my tickets questions, but it looks like we're not going to the game, only thing left is to find a place to watch. Someone suggested a Vikings bar in Cambridge, but it looks a little hoity-toity for our style. I'm thinking I might take 'em down to Lansdown St for Cask N' Flagon and Bleacher Bar.

Anyone here ever watch games there in winter? Will they have all the 1:00 NFL games? Pats-Vikes are 4:25 that day.

Mccourtys acceleration to the ball was asinine. I thought that last night and someone mentioned it to me today too. That’s as quick as I’ve seen a defender jump a pass.

Mccourtys was athletically more impressive imo. But touché nevertheless.

Well yeah, but it seemed like a good excuse to post that happy memory.

Not surprising at all. Hes been the fastest guy on the team for a long time.

Catching Temon Smith from behind (and almost out of the play) vs KC:

Re: New England Patriots: One for the thumb: Roger that!

I had to work, didn't get to watch. I have questions:

--I bet GB, I didn't think our D could hold Godgers under 30. I've read that Pack was picking up 5-6 YPC yet Beav kept calling pass plays. My Q: who stopped GB offense, NE D or GB coach?

--Failed 4th-and-goal conversion in a tie game had folks here lit. Again, I was working and couldn't see it, but I assured everyone that if BB thought it was a good idea, then I was OK with it. You folks who saw the game: thoughts?

***

Hilarious argument from loudest guy after that play:

LOUD GUY: You take the FG there! Points have been hard to come by!

YTF: They scored 17 in the first half, and this was their first possession of the 2nd half, and they marched right down to the goal line. You can debate the decision, but you CAN'T say, "Points have been hard to come by!"

***

Young Patrick Chung was so frustrating to watch.
Old Patrick Chung is a joy.

***

I keep referring to our other safeties as:

#32: "McCourtey"
#30: "McCourtey's brother"

Re: New England Patriots: One for the thumb: Roger that!

Pats' pass rush/pass D was frustrating AR all night. Flowers kept forcing him to move.

Plus, Gilmore takes away everybody's #1 receiver, so the D just has to scheme to stop the rest.

Pats played essentially a passing down D-Line most of the first half to tempt Packers to run the ball, which they did pretty successfully until Jones coughed it up on the first play of the 4th.

I was at the game and was fine with going for it on 4th there but the play call was awful. Most around me agreed.

Have to go for it there. No brainer. Weird series of play calls, though.

How did the pats lose by 24? The stats line looks even besides rushing and no turnovers

Re: New England Patriots: One for the thumb: Roger that!

What stats looked even? passing yards?

Brady completed >50% of his passes, Mariota was 67%. They ran for 150, we barely got 50. They had guys open all day, none of our guys were ever open.

That opening kickoff was the harbinger. Pats have long prided themselves on their kick coverage, but TEN was flying while we looked like we were jogging. I got that sense the whole day.
