Yeah, the only other option on the roster right now is Cole Croston, who they signed as an UDFA last year.

They signed DE Adrian Clayborn (2/$12m) & RB Jeremy Hill today. Doesn't really solve the LT problem, but I'm sure they'll figure it out.

Paying Solder $15m would be bad. They'll also probably get compensatory 3rd round picks in 2019 for losing him & one for losing Butler, so that's pretty good.

So what is up with Gronk? Read on different news sites that NE isnt happy with him and that he hasnt committed 100% to playing next season. Even read they might trade consider trading him.

I wouldn't get overly upset if they traded him for a defensive star (Watt, Miller, Kuechly, e.g.) since as long as TB12 throws the ball and Josh calls the plays, the offense will be fine.

I doubt they get anything close to that type of defensive talent. Maybe a decent player and a couple draft picks.

Gronk is signed for the next two seasons and underpaid. His base salaries are $8M and $9M.

It's possible Gronk is simply trying to create leverage for a better deal.

Wow at Cooks trade.

Solid value but surprised to see it happen.

Are you really though? No way BB would pony up the cash he will demand and this is the best time to trade him.

yeah this was a great return in a spot where we were never gonna keep him past this year. we'll be fine at wr obv, although it was nice having him. it'll be interesting to see where this years draft goes.

I was surprised they gave up a first for him last year for this exact reason. But once they did, I figured he was gonna be a Pat for a while.

This Alex Guerrero stuff is real. Our GOAT isn't happy. And it sucks that flowed to Gronk as well. Why can't they all just kiss and find what has worked for 18 years? BB and TB have hit a crossroads in philosophy of success.

Also, if Gronk doesn't finish his career here and spends a single productive snap anywhere else I will rail against all you mofos saying BB knows best. I'm looking at you Goodie.

You can add me to your list of scorn. As I said earlier, I'd trade Gronk for a defensive monster in a heartbeat (I agree it won't happen). When they've had a great D, they've won Super Bowls with no-names for Brady to target.

Thinking any "name" receiver (Gronk, OBJ, Dez, etc.) is needed to win is Pink Hat thinking.

Well Watt hasnt played much in the last two seasons and his back is as much of concern as is Gronks health imo. Up to his cheap shot against Buffalo Gronk was probably one of the few players who was/is liked even by the haters.

Don't get me wrong. I love Gronk and want him to stay. But if he's unhappy and they can improve the defense, I can live with that.

If Gronk leaves then it simply means BB is checking out. No interest in coaching millennials anymore. Honestly, it's a generational move. He's moved geniously across time and space when it comes to dealing with new people. But the Brady BB band is slowing down. I'm fine with 18 years of dominant football and the best games you'll ever see. Aint nothin to argue anymore.

It's time for McDaniels and the new world, as much as you might hate it. Find the QB and plunge ahead.

FWIW, the Gronk issue is money. Nothing more, nothing less. Name another NFL HC that would let players blow off the team's medical/training staff and go to an independent with a sketchy history?

Anyone have experience flying out to an away game? The game me and my buds want to go to already got the date leaked, and flights have already exploded. Do more flights end up getting added over time and prices settle down?

Gronk is one more concussion away from retiring unless he has a huge contract that makes it worth it. Patriots shouldn't give him one as Brady is almost done and he is heavily injury prone.

Trading him now seems like the smart move if you can get a decent offer.
